Has anyone lost weight by not telling their family and friends about their diets?

I can totally relate to feeling pressure from friends and family.
I took my friend out for her birthday, we had a chocolate cake delivered for her, he gave us 3 forks but I declined, she must have asked me 3 times just to have "a little" despite my telling her I'm on a diet. Frustrating as all hell, especially because she eats Wendy's everyday and is like a size 6.
Anyhow, it's tough for my parents as well, even though I live alone, when I go visit, my dad has the tendancy to say "Can you eat that?" Which annoys the hell out of me.
You know I'm not totally sure I could do it without the support of friends and family! I can see the points made about 'pressure' from others....my Mom does that too-- but seeing that she's across on another continent I don't feel that pressure ;-)
I think having the support of friends and family is important but if you think there won't be much positive support I can see where you would want to just go ahead and do it

I try not to tell people. I get very angry when people start commenting on what I am eating. You know what I mean the "is that on your diet" questions.
I do better on my own. I do tell my boyfriend so he knows not to enable my binges but he say he is a little scard becaues I get crazy when he hides the sweet stuff. ;0 What can I say I have cake issues but I am getting better. lol
