how many calories?

I'd love to get some advice from you guys...

Here's the deal: I currently weigh about 130. I'm 5'3" and have a good bit of muscle tone. I work out pretty hard 5 days a week (3 days are weights and cardio, 2 days are just cardio and abs) for about an hour each day. I don't need to lose a lot of weight, but I'm trying to reduce my body fat from around 24% to 20% or so (and I'm working with a trainer to do this). On the days I do just cardio (45-50 mins), I'm keeping my heart rate up at my target heart rate the whole time and I burn between 675 and 700 calories. On my weight training/cardio days, I do circuits and mix in cardio circuits with the weight exercises.

My question is, with this amount of activity, and at my current weight, how many calories a day would I need to consume to lose 3-5 pounds? (I'm 36 by the way.)

thanks!

I don't know how many calories you need to take in to lose weight - I've always gone on the notion that as long as you're burning more than you take in, the weight will come off.

If you are into tracking your daily activity and food intake you could try www.fitday.com You can register for free and it will track how many calories you burn each day as well as how many you take in (all based on your input of course). But it doesn't simply track your exercise, it also counts all of your anaerobic activity as well such as housecleaning and even sleeping because let's face it, you're burning calories all the time. I did it for awhile until I developed a pretty good feel for what I took in versus what I expended.

Again, as long as you're burning more than you're taking in, you'll lose those few pounds. Just make sure you're taking in enough to keep your body fueled for all that exercise you do.
