On the right track finally...

Hi It's me again...I went to the doctors last friday, after bursting into tears and telling her how upsetting this whole PCOS stuff is and that I am having a heck of a time losing weight, she put me on a new birth control pill and also on metformin (usually prescribed for diabetics) to help with the insulin resistance and suggested I go on the south beach diet. One week down on the diet and I'm down 11 lbs with the help of the metformin. It further solidifies that I wasn't just some crazy fat lady going into the doctors office, the metformin has actually helped me. THree months ago I did southbeach on my own and only lost a lb and 1/2...now with the metformin in one week I've lost 11, that tells me there really was something wrong and I wasn't just some overeating slob.

Anyhow, last week AF was visiting so I'm starting back up the exercise program, which will be challenging since it's brutally humid here. I also got a monthly shipment of vemma which gives me tons of energy so we are on the right track finally.

Good news Dee!! I'm glad you were able to talk with your doctor and that they were able to prescribe something for you, that you're happy with.

Is losing that amount of weight normal in the first week of SBD?

Glad to see you're feeling better about things-

Yes for normal people going on the south beach diet you lose between 8-13 lbs in the first two weeks. However, I'm not normal, since my hormones are all screwed up because of the PCOS. When I went on it, I only lost a pound. But with the diabetic medicine it helped me lose the weight I should! I'm more than thrilled.

I have to say being on the south beach diet, that it really supresses your appetite.

Glad you got that sorted out. I always like getting a confirmation that there is actually something wrong with me and I am just not crazy. ;)

That was the thing, for three years now I've been sayign to my doctor that something is wrong, that i feel like I hit 30 and I'm falling apart with the hair loss, the hairs on my chin, the inability to lose weight and they just say oh just go on a diet, they aren't listening at all and they look at you as if I have ding dongs and twinkies in my drawer at work that I'm constantly eating and I'm not. So finally someone listens. you know? I wanted to cry when I saw the scale move.

This is the only doctor that has ever really brought up PCOS and last visit I realized why, because she had it as well so she recognized the symptoms. Why couldn't anyone else? It's not a secret disease or anything you know?

That is great!!!

I'm jealous.

Now, I'm sitting here thinking, I need to lose 10lbs for Hawaii in two weeks. May I borrow some metformin? Or maybe I'll do that Cortislim for the next two weeks and exercise, and HOPE when I get back, I can keep it up.

Hmmm...two weeks, 10lsb, can't be healthy......BUT...........

Week 2 is rough I had a meltdown yesterday because my upstairs neighbors the night before were banging around to the point I screamed to them to Shut the F up and they did and then I got home yesterday and someone was parked in my parking area because the upstairs on the 3rd floor neighbor was having a party, well you know what, NOT MY PROBLEM my friends don't park in their spaces so I asked him to move it. I was so livid that I ate some crackers. But I'm back on track today.
