ALWAYS thinking about food

I was always so skinny growing up without trying and now, at 31, weigh about 20 pounds heavier than I should and want to be. I find it very difficult to lose weight, probably because all I can think about is food. I work an office job, so sitting here for 8 hours doesn't help.

It's almost 4:30 and I have been thinking for a few hours now about getting home and eating. And I end up eating junk because I can't satisfy my "craving". I don't really know what I want, and I usually am not hungry. I just feel controlled by food and it makes me really sad.

How do I stop thinking about food so darn much?

Hey Kanimalhouse, I think most of us have had moments where we feel the exact same way.

Oh, and make sure you are drinking enough water because sometime we confuse thirst with hunger. Maybe you could keep a journal and write down when you crave certain food and how you feel and see if there is a pattern? I know I eat carbs like crazy the few days before my period. Once I understand why it happens, it is a lot easier to manage it. I have known to load up on brown rice, had it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (sounds really silly) but it stops me from eating cookies at work.
