Changing it up a bit!

Hey ladies!
Its been a while since I've written but I've been vacationing and getting ready to move.
I wanted to write and let you guys know I recently came up with a tactic to help get over exercise boredom. I don't know about you guys, but recently, I've just been bored, REALLY BORED. And when you get bored, you lose motivation. And down here in the south in the 90 degree heat and 100+ heat index, I have to exercise inside on a treadmill or stationary bike, and thats just the pinnacle of boredom to me.

SO...the other night when I thought I was going to lose my mind stationary biking at about the 40 minute mark, so I hopped off and jumped on a treadmill and low and behold, I had a nice run. Good pace and everything. The next night I did a run and a swim and was able to exercise for over an hour. Last night I did 10 miles on the bike and then swam for 30 minutes. And what I've found is that even if the first half of what ever I do isn't great, for some reason what ever I do afterwards is better AND easier!! Last night I had NO motivation what so ever, but when I got to the pool, I was just hauling and swam faster then normal.

If you guys ever hit that place where exercise becomes a chore, try creating your own daily biathlon.

X:) Patrice

I've been thinking about this too. Not just the bored thing but how the 2nd 1/2 of my work out my heart rate goes down and it seems I can push myself so much easier. Not sure what barrier I'm breaking physically but thought that was interesting.

For example doing the stationary bike for 60 minutes my heart rate, once I'm going good, is about 180 then about 20 minutes or so into the work out it goes down to approximate range of

Yeah, I hear yeah! I lost about 20 or so pounds about 2 years ago, and I've been maintatining my weight around 139-142 pounds. I lost weight by just running for 40 minutes 4 times a week and doing upper and lower body weight training 2x/week. Then, when I came back home two years ago, I took a kickboxing class or a bootcamp class to supplement my running and/or elliptical. I take the kickboxing classes and/or bootcamp class twice a week now to supplement my running. I like these classes mind you for the mix though. The instructor changes each week, so it's never boring. That's the key though. To keep the class interesting by changing every so often.
