Hi, I posted in the roll call below, but thought I should introduce myself. I've been lurking for about a day.
I'm here because I want lose lose at least 15 lbs and then maintain a healthy lifestyle/weight. I've gained 20 lbs in the last 3 years and I weigh as much as a did 9 mos pregnant with DS (all of which I did lose post-partum). I want to feel better in a swimsuit, wear clothes that I could wear a year or two ago and just feel better and not winded too early.
I was spoiled growing up not eating right, not because I was taught poor habits- quite the opposite, but rather I had "skinny genes" where I was rail thin for my early teens and slender for later teens and early 20s.
Now DH and I both want to lose. DH is very overweight and could stand to lose 100+. We have a bet on how much we can lose by Labor Day, but the rule is that we have to do it in a healthy way (reducing calories and exercise more). We're hoping to inspire each other as well as be "friendly competitors". Unfortunately, I've seen the scale go up 1.5 lbs in the last two weeks instead of down, even though I'm making better food choices, exercising, drinking loads of waters and greatly reduced my soda and snack consumption.
I work in a cube, and try to walk at lunch at least 3x/week, but really don't have any other set exercise time/routine, although I'm working to change that.
I'm 34, married for 16 months and have a 7yo DS. I live in SE Wisconsin.
Looking forward to being a participant...

Nice to meet you Gidget! I like you never had to worry about my weight too much until I had my last kid plus being in my 30s. Started with about 20 lbs. to lose almost 2 years ago and still have about 7 lbs. to go. *sigh*
It's hard work but this board is a great help and making it a part of my daily routine keeps me on tasks most of the time. Still have bad days and weeks. I'm hoping slow and steady wins the race??? :o)
I look forward to getting to know you better and hearing the the things that work for you and help you be successful.
Good luck to both you and your husband.
Gretchen
Welcome to the board Gidget!!!
Thanks for the welcome. I didn't realize that upping my water intake (vs. my former Pepsi intake) would initially cause me to gain weight on the scale.
I'll take a peak at the journals and I did find FitDay as well.
Thanks again for the warm welcome...
