I exercised last night!!!!!

Well, I did it! Granted, it wasn't for long, but I did exercise! My mother had gotten me a Gazelle Edge not this past Christmas, but the Christmas before. I used it faithfully for a little while after I got it, but of course, like with everything else, I quit. And I would love to go walking, but right now in Central Florida, it is just too hot! So last night, I was standing right by the machine, talking to my son in my exercise clothes (because I had planned on going for a walk), and I hopped on it and went at it for a little over six minutes. I think I would have went longer if I'd had on shoes, but I didn't, and my feet were hurting because of the bumps on the feet parts. My son had music playing on the computer so I am hoping he will be there with music again this evening. I am planning on doing it every day and going for longer periods of time. My mom took a picture of me with our digital camera last night to email a friend that I hadn't talked to in years, and when I looked at the picture, I was HORRIFIED! And that did it. I am absolutely determined now!!!!! Wish me luck!

Sounds good to me! It is so hard, with kids who need alot more food for their growing and who also like their snacks!!! I hear "Mommy let's go to Baskin Robbins" or "Mommy, let's go get a smoothie!" Hahaha.

Good for you Christie!! Every second counts....

I know what you mean about being too *hot* to want to walk, and even if you do make it out there it's not half as enjoyable as you'd like it to be. Have you ever heard of Leslie Sansone's "Walk Away the Pounds" series? They are walking tapes you do in the comfort of your own (air-conditioned) living room. There are a plethora of them to choose- going from 1 mile simple walks to 4 mile vigorous ones. They all include leg-lifts, kicks and what not.

Here's the link for her site to learn more: www.lesliesansone.com

Once again- good for you for getting on the gazelle. Good luck doing it again tonight!!

I have two kids who are pretty good about what they eat-lots of fruits, veggies, lean meats, etc-mostly because we won't allow much junk and refuse to "drive to get food".

What does your daughter train for?
It must be nice to have such active kids that they get you involved. My husband coaches our sons' baseball team, so once they get back to practicing, I am going to go with them and get out in the outfield to help catch balls, get a little bit of exercise that way. My daughter is active, but she is 8 and always with her little neighborhood friends. My oldest son has spent the summer with a broken leg, so my hopes that we would be able to do things together was shot down, hahahaha.
And I am going to check into the walk away the pounds. Thanks!

The week after my son turned 13, he got out of our pool, went running on the wet concrete, and his right leg sent sliding forward and he landed on his left. Broke it at the growth plate near the ankle, but it healed perfectly. We saw the x-ray yesterday and you couldn't even tell it was broken.
My 8 year old daughter hasn't broken anything, she is so accident prone that I fear it is only a matter of time with her too. She plays soccer.
And our middle son who is 11 plays baseball, so I am sure we have more broken bones in our future too!!!
My husband is a 2nd degree black belt in Tai Kwon Do!!!! He hasn't practiced it in a couple of years, now he just coaches baseball for the boys.

Good for your daughter. Black belt testing is such a huge accomplishment. I'm a red belt with black stripes in Hap Ki Do which is also a Korean martial art. Our school trains both kids and adults in TKD as well. I'd love to train in both, but I can barely afford to keep up with HKD right now. I want to find a way though, since I'm so close to testing for black belt. We have another board member who recently earned her black belt in karate too.

Good for you for exercising some and for deciding to make exercise a regular activity again. It will pay off in so many ways.
