The year of Karen

I'm feeling really brilliant right now.

In a few weeks my last baby will start Kindergarten. She will be gone for 3 hours a day, which is not really long enough to get a part time job. I was stressing about what to do to be productive for 3 hours a day, and it hit me.

This is the "Year of Karen". There is a 5 mile walking path near my home that I have only been able to do on weekends when my hubby is home to watch the kids. Now I will do it several times a week.

I used to work out 2 hours a day before having kids. I haven't recently because 2 hours is a long time to leave them in front of the tv, but now I have 3 hours a day, 5 days a week!!!

I've found a karate school near here that is wonderful. I'm currently taking kick boxing there, as part of a summer program, but kickboxing ends in 2 weeks. Now I am going to take karate and be belted, something I have wanted to do forever but I've been being a marytr and saying that I couldn't go because I didn't want to leave the kids in the evening. It's one hour, once a week and I am worth it!

I am very lucky to have a whole year to dedicate to myself and my goals. Next year I'll have to get a job during the day while the kids are in school, but this year I will reach my goals or I will have to face the fact that the problem is me and not lack of time. I"m sure I'll be looking for motivation along the way! Thanks for being here.

That is great to be able to take that time for yourself before moving on to work or whatever might be next for you. Good outlook on it too. You are definitely worth taking that time for yourself. You will then be more successful when you start out next year looking for work being more confident about your abilities to set out and meet your goals.
