TMI, but I am on my period & having such cramps! I worked out yesterday but couldn't even keep up with the class that well. It was like my strength was gone. And then today I ate a candy bar :( I'm popping motrin every 4 hours & I just want to go to bed. I hope I feel better so I can go work out tomorrow. I hate to use it as an excuse but I just feel bleh! Isn't exercise supposed to make cramps better? Maybe it takes more than a week to kick in, huh?

Any ideas for staying active during this time of the month? I hate to lose momentum.

I hear ya! Lately I've felt similar and it's so aggravating when you feel like your on a roll and then feel like crap.

My suggestion is just keep on going. Even if you are kind of just going through the motions it is better than nothing. Maybe those endorphins will kick in and you'll feel a little relief.

Some of the yoga poses do help. And if you like the taste of ginger, I find that nibbling on a few pieces of candied ginger can be helpful.

This is tricky-- sometimes working out does help, and sometimes it doesn't. I'd listen to your body-- if you're in that much pain that you have to pop motrin then I would ease up on the exercise. Something like a walk might be more beneficial during this time.

You need to listen to your body.

Hi, I used to have really bad cramps, I take 3000 milligrams of Primrose Oil daily, it really helps the cramps, my doctor also put me on Yasmin BPC and they helped a lot as well. When you are having your period, I'd take it easy, do something like walking or yoga, rather than full balls to the wall cardio.
