I couldn't resist the flashy discussion title... My students teach me little things when they think they can, and I try to listen, even if it is only how to make words flashier when you're limited. :)
I'm new to the board, but I've been trying to take care of myself for a month now. I've been eating less, watching calories, trying to eat well, and going to Curves (which I like, although people jeer at it). I don't know if I've lost anything yet as they don't weigh me until the 17th, but we'll see.
Can't believe I have to get weighed a day after my birthday.... Turning 30.... I've done a lot for 30, so I don't feel too bad. I'm a pretty hip chick, I think. Got my city condo, my teaching career.... Soon I want my Saab status symbol! Cut me off in your Mercedes, a car company who benefited from Jewish slave labor during WW2, like BMW and Porshe, will you? Wonder Swed Powers.... Activate! Form of.... Turbo!
For 30, though, I have a lot, but not my health. No point in working hard if I'm going to die before I can reap the benefits of working around the clock for a job no one respects, but everyone relies on. Oh well. So yeah, I've always had eating disorders, but this time I'm trying to do it safely and slowly. Sucks. Oh well. For the best. Yep.
Sooo... yeah. How's it goin'? ;-)

Looking forward to posting with you-

Hi!
Just wanted to say thanks, but I think I'll be posting to another board. It's not because people have a voice, but rather people yell it out at one another. Being a teacher, I get kids with differing opinions all the time, and my policy in the classroom is we listen to what everyone has to say, paraphrase it, acknowledge it respectfully, then voice our own opinion without adding words, phrases, or comments that would promote hostility.
I know this isn't a classroom, but the same rules should always apply in life, no matter where you are. I'd like to be in a positive place where I can talk and not get attacked either indirectly (a very covert way to insult someone in which you must read between the lines to see the deep insult), or violently (one post was a huge slap in the face to another, and I was a bit shocked; my grandmother was a housewife, but college-educated, and her job role played little part in her intelligence).
Thanks, and peace!
Airlily-- I'm sorry to read that you thought there was negativity on this board...I know there was one recent post that brought about a hot topic and some words were posted, but it was handled swiftly, and carefully. This board (IMO) is far from negative, we all support each other here.
I did see you were posting at another board-- good luck. And again I'm sorry you didn't feel comfortable here.
Take Care-
