The Biggest Loser Train!
| Sun, 09-11-2005 - 4:41pm |
So Biggest Loser starts up again on Tuesday just in time for me to jump back on the train with my own eating habits. I'm going back on south beach after I fell off miserably and have slept and bummed out the remainder of the month of august. So I'm back on track starting tommorow, I cleared my house of any sugar. LOL
Anyhow, so is everyone going to watch this time around? It really was very inspiring last year. I'll probably keep this post going every wednesday to see if people are watching.

Week 3 Recap:
The beginning of the week, they all discover there is no food in the house. There food has been taken away and for the entire week they must order in or dine out for all their meals. They freak out because they are afraid too many calories or bad choices will be made. So they go on to their first challenge, there are booths set up for everyone, in front of them are about 200 milkshakes in shot glasses. They are told in XX amount of time, the number of shots they do, whoever did the most, they will get a celebrity chef for them and one other people to cook healthy meals for them for the week while everyone else orders out.
So NOBODY does it except for one girl, I felt so bad, she drank 48 of them, she looked ill and nobody else drank so technically she could have just drank 1 and won the thing. So anyhow the other ladies are kind of peeved at her, it was explained that each one carried about 40 calories so in essence she drank 1920 calories for the day. Okay so that day is shot and she'll have to work out even harder, but I can't imagine that one thing would destroy their team.
Okay so Jillian comes back, decides if the other guys still want to work for her, that's great she'll work with them and just not Nick who prefers to workout on his own.
So the real challenge takes place on a train. Each teammate is in a different train car, they have to run balls all the way down the train until all the balls are gone, the team that gets all their balls in the last car WINS! and they win a phone call home to their families.
The girls were kicking BOOTIE! but then some of the girls started tiring and instead of jogging or running fast they walked and ended up losing. THey were up at one point by 3 balls, it was a crushing defeat because of some "tiredness". Anyhow, the guys were sweet, they almost all cried with their phone calls home.
So weigh in time. Men lose quite a bit of weight, I believe it was like 23 lbs. So in order for the women to win they have to lose more than 17. So they all weigh. There are only two girls left and they need to lose 5 lbs to win it. The 2nd to the last girl goes up. She loses ZERO...so the pressure was really on, but Ryan pulled through and had a 5 lb weight loss. WAHOO!!! The girls got their confidence back.
So on to discussion about who to eliminate for the men. They all decide that Seth is the smallest and youngest so he can lose weight on the outside. But a couple teammates don't think that's fair because Seth is a team player and Nick isn't and that to keep the team unified maybe it's better to send Nick home (that would have been my choice), so the first guy votes for Seth, Seth votes for Nick, Nick says a nasty speech about Seth being not trustworthy and votes for Seth, Then the next three vote for Nick. Nick was so cocky going into it that he wouldn't be eliminated that I was happy to see that smirk go right off his nasty face. Caroline asks if he'd like to say anything to his teammates, Nope he says. After he leaves Matt who was really upset about this, says with a response like that, I know I made the right decision.
They did a follow-up with Nick, he said being on the show was the worst experience, he doesn't weigh himself, he eats right and walks. He actually looks larger than he did on the show and his weight is "unknown". THEY DEFINITELY made the right decision the man had a piss poor attitude.
Anyhow that's week 3's recap. It was a good show and they are taking applications for the Biggest Loser 3 so if anyone is considering trying out go to www.nbc.com
This really bugs me that the women can't get it together as a team. I hate that they fullfill all the negative women stero types about not being able to get along with one another. I think the girl who drank all the shakes made the right choice. Healthy meals all week instead of eating out. So petty that the other women held it against her. They are a team but still need to respect indvidual choices. Now if those choices are hurting the team then they should be at the top of the list to go home
You know I thought Nick was pretty mean in his "speech" about Seth not being trustworthy etc. I thought that was rude. Nick definitely wasn't working out as hard as the team, he also basically almost lost them their trainer with his attitude. He really wasn't a positive influence or had the team mentality. Lets face it in this show you have to be part of the "team" in the beginning until it gets down to individual numbers.
The girl who drank the milkshakes DID make the right choice, she lost 4 lbs and the girl Ryan she allowed to have the healthy chef cooking for both of them, she lost 5 lbs and was the reason they won the weigh in. SO obviously downing those milkshakes helped the team.
I agree that Nick looked bigger and he made it so obvious when he said he did not weigh himself. You know thatif he had lost weight he would be bragging about it. I think the gilrs are kind of mean, I think that susie made the right choice. There weight loss has become more realistic each week instead of the huge amount they lost the first week.

I didn't watch it because some of the people are very whiney. Nick was one of them so maybe I will start again. I wish the show would go more in to what they are eating and how the eating and exercing will be modified in the real world.
Thanks for the up date.
I thought it was a pretty alright episode-- personal opinion-- Susie was right to drink the milkshakes (and she did say she heard clinking of glasses in booths beyond hers....I don't think her intention was to sabotage her team at all....the pettiness of that annoyed me).
I felt awful about the two that had to be taken away in ambulances after the challenge!!
Good for the girls for pulling it through another week, but I agree (Gretchen) let's see some team spirit. I know if's a game for an individual win, but look at how team spirited the men are- they all cheered to see (what's his face who went to hospital come back)---
Glad to see Nick gone too!

The men do seem much more supportive of one another. I really like that, when you see men form an emotional bond. Who knew???? lol

Week 4 Recap:
Okay so they get told that they are all going to VEGAS!!!! The first night they are there is to themselves, they can gamble and have dinner. Towards the end of the evening they offer them a deal with a catch of course. They can pick one card out of a group of say 20 cards. The cards have dollar amounts on them from $1 - $5,000 if you choose to take a card then you lose your trainer for the week. They of course can workout on their own, but they lose their trainer. So two men decide to do it, Mark and Seth and three Women, Shannon, Jen and Suzanne.
Seth pulls 1,000 card. Mark pulls a 2,500 card. Shannon pulls a 1,000 card. Suzanne pulls a 2,500 card. and Jen pulls a 1,000 card.
So then they get offered another deal, to play hi/lo (which if those of you who have never played a card gets put face up and you have to decide if the next card will be higher or lower than the one face up)if they win they double their money if they lose they lose what they just won. The men decide it's not worth the deal they've already lost their trainer they aren't going to risk the money too. Shannon says Its vegas baby I'm going for it and Suzanne chooses to as well. Jen chooses to keep her money. Shannon has a face up 8 she chooses the next card to be higher and it was a J, so she ends up leaving with 2,000. Suzanne gets an Ace so she chooses the next card to be lower and it was. She walks away with 5,000 as well as the 1600 she won on the slot machine earlier in the day.
Fine the teams go back to the hotel rooms and have to tell their trainers. Jillian and Bob are pissed that they would jeopardize their weight loss for money. The three girls that didn't go for the cash, get themselves worked up into a frenzy and basically divides the team. The men's team however decide the two players that can't work with Jillian, Matt will work with them and be their "trainer".
So next comes the "challenge" there are two huge "scales" with different totals on them. One is for the girls team with their combined weight on it and the men's team with their combined weight. They are at the edge of a pool. At the bottom of each pool are all players names (except for one girl because they had more players Jen sat it out). So there is a block of gold in the amount of the each individual persons weight. So Matty was the heaviest he say had 20 bars of gold, whereas Seth might only have 10. So the objective is the corresponding person had to go under water pick up the gold and bring back to the "scale" of their team. The team that gets all the gold bars on the scale first wins the challenge. I thought it was a bit of an unfair of an advantage for the men since they could lift more, they were taking away 2-4 gold bars where the women were struggling to even carry the gold bars. So whatever...the men end up winning. So they can choose 1 person from the women's team to sit out the weigh in.
Okay we go back to the house...Suzanne and Ryan get in a snippy drama filled argument, they seemed to make it all about Ryan...but I"m not a fan of Suzanne she seems in your face all the time and wants to be back in "high school" so I don't know. I'm sure we miss a lot in editing. Anyhow, Bob comes in and basically tears them a new one about this is why they lose, because they can't pull it together like the men's team being very united. The girls team is equally divided between susie, ryan and Andrea (who had their trainer) and Shannon, Jen and Suzanne (who didn't have the trainer). Anyhow, Matt worked out everyone who didn't have a trainer and was their "trainer" for the week which really is great for Matt he was a real trooper to do that for the girls.
So weigh in time they choose Jen to sit out. Of course last week she lost nothing, this week she made up for that and lost 10 lbs but it couldn't count. In the end the men BLEW the women away with big numbers, 17, 14, 10 etc. for weight losses. *sigh*
So now it's time to vote, no doubt the girls team couldn't even decide on the voting off a teammate. Andrea, Susie and Ryan chose Shannon to go home. Shannon, Jen and Suzanne chose Ryan to go home. So the vote went to the men. Ryan was chosen by the men.
She left the ranch having lost 30 lbs. And went on to lose another 25 lbs on her own, she looked FABULOUS!
My personal opinion these ladies better get over themselves and pull it together, the men already have a huge advantage as men lose weight naturally faster then women, they really need to start being united or they are going to fail miserably.
I listened to the show while i was cooking. I saw the weigh in though. I still find the bickering and whining annoying. The women need to get it together. I am also not too thrilled with the men verses women. I think that may be causing un do tension. I think it would have beed better if Jillian trained the women. She would bring them down a few pegs. Suzanne gets on my nerves - New Yorkers are not that annoying.
Oh these women!!! Who was it who said last night that they hated that for people seeing the show it would show the sterotype that women can't get along? She was so right! They need to come together!
I thought it was actually a good episode- not too inspiring, except for Ryan, who I agree looks great now. Anyway....onto week 5!
