The Biggest Loser Train!
| Sun, 09-11-2005 - 4:41pm |
So Biggest Loser starts up again on Tuesday just in time for me to jump back on the train with my own eating habits. I'm going back on south beach after I fell off miserably and have slept and bummed out the remainder of the month of august. So I'm back on track starting tommorow, I cleared my house of any sugar. LOL
Anyhow, so is everyone going to watch this time around? It really was very inspiring last year. I'll probably keep this post going every wednesday to see if people are watching.

Week 6 Recap:
Tonights episode was a lot more "mellow" as compared to some others. Mark is working out 5 hours a day, he thinks this will yield him huge numbers, but as we all know at some point your body says, woah we are burning a lot more than we are consuming we need to hang on to every pound...which is basically what Jillian told him. I'm not too fond of Mark, he's kind of nasty in response to the women, tries to deflate them and while I understand it's a competition I think they all should be supporting each other in their quest for weight loss not trying to break each others spirits and urge people to break their good habits in order to eat bad foods etc.
***off soapbox****
Anyhow they have a challenge regarding food. A humungous piece of chocolate cake for a one in four chance at a prize. They ALL resist the urge and come out to find out that had they eaten the cake they would have won an interactive exercise bike, it was pretty neat but I was really happy they all resisted the urge.
They learn the physical challenge is going to be endurance and hills so they all go out to do the "climb the mountain" thing. Jeff has been complaining because he had ankle surgery like 16 years ago and still thinks his ankle is weak, it's hard for Jillian to let him know his ankle is fine now. So Jeff is the only one that can't make it up this rock at the end, mainly it's his fear of his ankle, but in the end with the teams help he makes it, and you could see on his face it was really a personally goal for him to do that. We see a tape of Matt getting up in the middle of the night and eating.
On to the physical challenge. THey must go down and back up 2,000 stairs. 10 times. The catch is the red team picks the player from the blue team who will do it and the blue team picks the player from the red team that will do it. The blue team chooses MARK to do it (which I felt was great especially because of all his trash talking) and the red team chooses ANDREA.
Well it was clear from the start who was going to win, Andrea had it from step 1. It was so gratifying to see. Andrea was going up her last set of stairs and Mark was right behind her finishing the second to the last, which meant he still had to go down and back up. It was such a great challenge for them to win, since they often lose the more physically demanding tasks.
Time for weigh in. Because the men have one extra teammate the women get to decide who sits out and they choose Seth.
The women weigh first. Although they all do well, especially by normal standards they end up with a total of 13 lbs. Nobody lost more than 5 lbs. Suzy loses the most for the team.
Next goes the men. Seth weighs first since his weigh in doesn't count. He loses 10 lbs. The women cheer they made the right choice. Mark weighs next, very cocky and being his typical self that has got me rather annoyed in the last few weeks, he ends up losing 4 lbs. He is disappointed, and even says "THAT'S IT???" which was kind of a slap in the face to the women as that is what they are averaging most weeks each, I thought it was rather insensitive but what do I know, it's obvious I'm not fond of him at this point. So then goes Matt. He loses ***NOTHING*** He's PISSED so upset he asks to step out and get some fresh air, he comes back in and Caroline asks if he's okay he starts to cry so all the guys kind of block him so the women don't see him crying. So Jeff goes up I can't remember his pounds lost, but Pete goes up and loses big, I believe he lost like 13 lbs. And they only had to lose 19 to win it. So of course they win AGAIN! I really am convinced the old method of the show (guys and girls mixed on teams) may be the better way too go. This guys against girls thing is very defeative for the women and not because they are doing BADLY.
Anyhow, they are sad, cry and the men are so busy cheering and saying YEAH RED TEAM that nobody has any compassion for the fact the women have lost 3 weigh ins in a row and Suzy is a little upset about that, she comments that "I understand they are happy but can they keep their cheering down a bit" or something like that...
They tell Bob, they are very upset, Bob feels as though he's let them down. Everyone is very solemn. The men talk with Jillian, she asks Matt what happened, he confesses about the late night meals and says next week he's only doing what SHE tells him to do.
Elimination. Andrea votes for Jen, Jen votes for Andrea and Suzy and Shannon both vote for Jen as well. I was pretty relieved as if there was another "tie" the men would have definitely voted off Andrea over Jen, because Jen has made "friends" with the guys, choosing to spend the last night hanging out with Mark, who just earlier that week in the exercise room was trying to squash her spirit. I can't grasp that but whatever. She's a really good sport about it, hugs everyone and says for them to win it all.
When they show her after, she still has a bit of weight to lose but she looks really good, she's lost a total of 72 lbs.
All in all I thought it was a good episode not a lot of that catty drama crap which was good, but I felt so sad for the women, they won a great physical challenge and still couldn't compete against those high numbers that the men keep putting up, you can just see the sadness and frustration with them.
Next week there is of course a shuffle because there are only 3 women left and 5 guys. So we'll see how that plays out. And apparently there is a tragedy in one of the players lives back home, it appears to be in Matt's but I can't be sure.

I felt much better about last nights show over all. However, I think it is just wrong to be pitting women against men in this. The bright side is all the women are really starting to look better. Men are losing a lot but still have quite a way to go. I believe the women are working as hard as the men are and I think the men are slipping up occasionally just like the women. First time we saw it though with what's his name eating late at night. I'm sure they all have their little demons nagging them to do something they shouldn't. Don't we all!
So thrilled they picked Mark for the challenge. He need to be put in his place! Andrea did great hardly looked like it phased her at all. I think any of the women could of beat any man with maybe the exception of Seth. He's looking pretty lean these days. Over all I think women seem to be in better shape than the men particularly for endurance type things. I think women focus and try with their weight more than men do so would make sense they had a bit of a head start in that area.
Which brings me to Jillian and Bob. I could be wrong but I think Bob's training is more of a gradual and building up their endurance. Where Jillian's program is for fast results right away. As we saw in this weeks challenge the women look to have better long term endurance even if they are not as physically strong as the men. This makes since of how they paired Bob with the women and Jillian with the men. The men need to lose a lot more weight than the men and she obviously can get that done.
I deffinalty want to check out Jillian's book. The main thing i like about her is she says loosing weight is HARD. So few people admit that - for me loosing weight is so hard. Food is all around you can't avoid it like smoking or drining.
Any way - Matt is such a baby. He starts crying because he didn't lose weight. What did he think would happen binging in the night. I know that is how i got fat. Mark needs to be sent home - he has issues. I am also offended by the way the men celebrated their win. Ok great you won again and it is a competion but did any of the women cheer Matt's loss of ZERO. No, probably because they have class.
I liked Jen but i am not sure why the blue team said she shouldn't talk to the red team. If the men are beign nasty and seneaky than fine ignore them but to ignor them because they are on the other team is childish. They must realize at some point the teams will be eliminated and then they have to interact with people they were not speaking to.
I also don't think the men vers the women was a good idea. It also makes the trainors look bad. Bob obviously knows what he is doing (check out his body) but compared to Jillian's program he looks too soft on the women.
Next week should be good.
Well last year women didn't have problems with Jillian, they all respected her and thought she was tough but they didn't bump heads with her or anything.
I think Bob works them just as hard, I just think as usual the more weight you have to lose the quicker it has to come off. These women are now in that stage where it comes off slower because they are getting closer to their goal weights, Men always have such an easier time losing, it's so not fair.
I took their comments about Jen talking to the red team as that night was potentially her last night there (as was it all of their lasts night there potentially except suzy because she was exempt) and she chose not to spend any of that time with her team. That shows a lot for her "team mentality" would anyone on the red team with potentially being eliminated spend their last night not with anyone in their team?
I think it was right for Jen to go. Out of those left, she's not great at competitions.
Throwing in my 2cents on last night; the splitting up men VS women is REALLY getting to me! How on earth are they supposed to outdo the men whose metabolism is working 'overtime' for them??? It's a pity because I think the women have come on so far.....only to have their celebrations burst at the end of the last 3 weeks!!! No wonder they are getting pi$$ed off! (Can you tell I have an issue with this, lol?) I missed the end, so didn't know about the switching things around next week-- do you think they'll mix men and women??
As for the trainers; I think both are doing a great job. The women seem to be toning more (in the weigh-in when you see their first weigh-in picture you can really see the difference, with the men too, but more definition with the ladies upper bodies).
It's really getting to the nitty gritty now. Can't wait for next week ;-)

Thanks for the update Dee. I thought someone was walking off the show. No? Oh well. I was hoping for THAT update.
And honestly, I do believe if the women won, they'd be cheering, maybe not as much as the men, but they'd be so dang happy and cheering and all that stuff too. Because, remember, this IS a competition. Both of weight and minds.
I still hate the men vs women thing though, and I'm not even watching. lol
