New Olive Oil Health Discovery

Research shows that the beneficial effects of olive oil may extend beyond cholesterol control.

Replacing saturated fats with unsaturated fats such as olive oil can help reduce cholesterol and keep the heart healthy. Now researchers have discovered that fresh extra-virgin olive oil contains a compound that helps fight inflammation.

RealAge Benefit: Eating a low-fat diet -- and eating healthful unsaturated fats when you do eat fat -- can make your RealAge as much as 6 years younger.

Always good to know.

Do you or anyone here for that matter no the cost difference between olive oil and say canola oil? Also, I'm assuming olive oil is better than canola, right?

Hey Gretchen, I know that Olive Oil is more expensive than Canola oil, but I'm not sure by how much.

Thanks for passing the tip along Robyn-- I actually use olive oil most of the time. I don't go for the real pricey ones...and couldn't tell you how much I pay for it. I need to get some more actually, so I'll pay attention this time ;-)

i get olive in a large can for like $20. It is a middle eastern brand. I use that for major cooking. But i use small bottles for dipping and salad dressings.
