Good News and Bad News

So the good news. My sugar count is good, the labs came back and that looks good.

The good news is that my total cholesterol is down 10 points from last year, but I'm still over 200 but it's an improvement, I went from 220 to 210.

The bad news is my triglycerides are out of control 300.

So she wants me back on South Beach. GOD!!! This is so expensive, it works though but so expensive I just don't have the funds for it, nor I swear the willpower, after a week and 2 days I cave, I can't stand to stomach another salad because I hate all veggies except for salad stuff.

What is wrong with me??? Why can't I pull it together for those last 5 days.

Hey Dee, what is it about South Beach that your Dr. likes?

Well with PCOS you are insulin resistant so it's the sugar thing/refined flour carb thing which is what focuses on South Beach, as well as my triglycerides are really high and since South Beach focuses on the right kinds of fats and low fats it's a better choice. I can't do WW, the point system just does NOT work for me.

I like south beach, but by week 2, 2 days into it I'm HATING salads. I just need to buck up and do it.

Sorry to hear about the predicament you're in. I agree with Miranda-- see if there is any other (cheaper) route your doc can suggest for you!

Good luck-

Do you buy all the prepackaged foods on the SBD or do you follow the recipes in the book? I find that doing it myself is cheaper than buying their stuff. I'd only buy the prepackaged stuff in a pinch.

This is my one and only bit of advice, because I love veggies and in my personal heaven every meals is vegetarian, but it works for me with other things: Don't look at it as a long-term

No I've actually never eaten any of their prepackaged meals because those are all phase 2 and 3's I can't make it past the 2nd day of the 2nd week in Phase 1. My friend here at work is going to be my drill sargent the next two weeks so I am determined to get past phase 1, once I'm past phase one I'll be fine.

When I say I don't like vegetables, I mean vegetables. I don't eat zucchini, peppers, mushrooms, any veggies except for carrots, celery, lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes. LOL

Occasionally green beans and I do like aspharagus but it's really expensive. LOVE corn but you can't eat it because it's high glycemic. LOL

So when I say I'm limited to salads, trust me.

I'm just going to do it. My friend at work is going to help. If I can make it past the phase 1 I'll be okay.
