How to find a nutritionist/dietician?

I think I need some professional help with my diet choices. I have been doing everything right, or so I think, for the past few months with no success.

Where do I look for one? My Dr is no help & I don't want to go through the phone book & just pick. I don't even know what I should be looking for credential-wise. My insurarance company will not cover it so $ is a factor but I don't want to choose based on fee & get someone who will do me no good.

Hi Ann, maybe look at your local college or University for someone who is in training, or check with your YMCA or YWCA to see if they have any references.

Ann- here's some info I found that has a couple of links you can check out for nutritionists in your area:

Unfortunately, in some states, the title “nutritionist” or “dietitian” can be claimed by anyone, even without formal education.
