Yikes, I took that quiz and got 2 in the anger category - I'd better do some deep breathing here . . .

Tame your anger

"Be angry, but don't react in anger," says Dr. Vandersteen. Anger is hard on relationships, stress levels and your cardiovascular health. A study at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland also found that women who suppressed their rage ended up even angrier. That's why it's important to learn how to express your displeasure in a healthy way.

If you're angry...

· Work it off To settle yourself down, Mandel suggests going for a brisk walk or squeezing a firm couch cushion between your palms several times. Exercise helps you use up the adrenalin that anger generates.

· Write it down While still in a fury, write a letter to the person who crossed you. Then destroy the letter immediately, without rereading it. This discharges the anger and helps you cool down, Dr. Posen says.

· Face the feeling Acknowledging negative emotions allows you to let them go, says Hale Dwoskin, author of The Sedona Method (Sedona). Ask yourself: could I let this feeling go? Do I want to carry this around? If I'm willing to let it go, then when? A study of 60 people found that those who tried the Sedona Method after recalling a stressful emotional event in their lives reduced their heart rate and blood pressure.
