Hi everyone. My name is Amy. I'm 31 years old, have been married for 10 1/2 years, and have four beautiful children, ages 12, 10, 6, and 3 (girl, boy, boy, girl). I work full time as a Customer Service Specialist in an Industrial Packaging division. We live in Northeast Ohio.

I've been running pretty steadily since December of 1999. I've run in several 5k's, 10k's, half marathons, and have run one full marathon so far. Recently we joined a YMCA and I've been doing a lot of cross-training. I really enjoy the variety of exercises. My main focus is on running, cycling, full body weight training, abwork, and swimming.

Well, I had been active throughout school, then pretty much became sedentary after that. I had my first child in the fall after finishing highschool. After my third was born in November 99, I decided to try to get back into some fitness. I had enjoyed track in highschool, so I started out really slowly on a treadmill we had bought from walmart. Just worked up from there :)

Now that we have a YMCA membership, I really enjoy the variety - bike, weights, treadmill.

Plus, both sides of my family have been plagued with serious health problems and several have died early because of it. The majority of their probelms were related to their diet and total lack of exercise. A few years ago my dad had passed away after going through an awful 9 month struggle with a whole series of health problems. I felt so bad for him. I also didn't want anything like that to happen to me, so I've become pretty motivated in the process.

I want to set a good example for my kids. My husband became motivated as well and he has lost about 45 lbs since we were married 10 years ago. :)

Well health is a huge motivator, and it sounds like you are well on your way to warding off any healthy issues that have plagued your family.

That is fantastic about your husbands weight loss too!

Hi Amy and welcome to the 30's board! Sounds like you are firmly sitting on the exercise wagon-- it will be nice for some of our other runners to have you around :-)

Looking forward to posting with you-
