I'm New here and looking for ideas

I'm new on this site and am looking for no impact ways to get in a good workout. I live on the second floor of an older (thin walls, floors and ceilings) apartment building. I'd like to get in a good all around excerize program that doesn't leave my downstairs neighbor feeling like I'm coming through her ceiling.

I've been seperated for about 6 months now and am now getting to the point where I know that I need to focus on making positive changes in my attitude and my health. I need to lose about 65 pounds. I know that it will take a combination of eating healthier and being more active in terms of excercize. (that was part of the decision in moving to an upstairs apartment, I figured climbing all those stairs everyday would be a good thing, and one I couldn't put off, lol). Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Your input would be helpful.

Thanks,

Tiffany

Welcome to the board Tiffany!!

Being in an apartment or anywhere where you share walls/cielings/floors presents a challenge - but there are some great pilates tapes or yoga tapes that just might fit the bill!!

I especially like the GIAIM series of tapes!

What is the GIAIM series of tapes? I'm kind of new to this whole thing, so bear with me. I know I need to make a change it's just making the change that is the hard part. I just have to say that divorce in itself is one heck of a diet. I lost 20 lbs just from the seperation. Not to mention the 145 lbs that was my husband, lol.
I plan to start a journal, but I'm not sure how much time I can devote online. I just have online access through work. I don't have online access at home yet, much to the dismay of my 15 year old daughter. Planning on getting it, just needed to see where it fit in the budget of my new single income lifestyle. I've been reading some of the posts and it sounds like everyone here is facing the same obstacles. Knowing we need to make changes and just not sure where or how to start.

Welcome to the board Tiffany!

I really enjoy Yoga, but haven't tried the series Miranda has passed on the link for. I have a *Crunch* video 'Yoga by Candlelight' which is very enjoyable to do. It's about 50mins long. I also have a ball that I use (from time to time)- it came with a video too, it's not too difficult to do, and won't have you jumping about the place disturbing neighbors ;-)

Just another idea.....looking forward to having you around~

I got a GAIAM video with a ball I purhased a few years bak and I too like their stuff. I ordered a Yoga for Weight Loss DVD and the Am & PM Yoga DVD on the advice of some ladies on this board. I like them both. I like the ball one too, but I also am in an apartment and will have to wait 'til the Christmas tree comes down before I can do ball stuff again. My apartment is small, so I know how it is to try to exercise. I am so happy when the weather is good so I can go outside and walk or run. I do use the Walk Away the Pounds DVDs in the winter. I am o the bottom floor, but I don't think they are too disruptive since they are walking in place basically, no jumping jacks or plyometric drills or anything.

I hope you find something that you ca enjoy in your apartment. Welcome to the board. Hope you stay around.
