Hello everyone. I am new to this board here. I just turned 30 in October so i'm new to the 30's also. :) I've been poking around the boards and it seems like alot of you have the same issues I have or have experienced them at some point. I'm going to make a journal and put all my excuses there so I won't make this part too long (at least I plan not to. lol).
Basically, I was in the army for 6 years and was in great shape. I got out and decided it was a good time to sit on my butt and eat bon-bons because I could. At the time I had only one child, a 4 year old daugther. Then I had my son last year and my husband went off to Iraq this past January. (He is coming home next week so WOOHOO!!!!!) Since having my son almost 16 months ago i've had a plan to lose weight and get back to where I was when I was in the army. I am 5'6" and weighed the 155. I'm still the same height now but a whopping 216. I went shopping for the first time since I've had my son and started crying when I had to go to the plus size store. I've never been near this big nor ever imagined myself here.
I eat healthy.....in the mornings but come that afternoon craving it's all downhill up until I go to bed. I want to exercise, but I get tired just thinking of it. I read something about a carb hang over? I'm a carb freak and can go without...for the morning... lol. etc etc a viscious cycle.
Any book suggestions with good information or ways to deal with this? I ahve a few, but their meal plans are only for one meal. I need to cook for my family and it's really hard to find things in those books that my whole family will eat. My husband already tells me he won't eat "that healthy crap" as he calls it. He also has to have his sodas and other bad snacks around that i've asked him to not want to keep in the house, but he refuses. Anyone have husbands like that and how do you deal with it? AT this point my will power is weak and i'd like to get it stronger so having that stuff in teh hosue isn't an issue.
Ok, i'll stop now as this is getting longer. lol. Anyway, it is nice to meet you all, sort of, and start posting here. Hopefully this is the start of a healthier and more energetic life for me.

Welcome to the board (and your 30's!)
You're facing a few obstacles and I imagine you are having some stress related issues with 2 young kids and a husband in the military - so finding alternate ways to combat stress might be helpful for you to get your eating in line.
Dealing with a husband who doesn't want to have HIS eating patterns changed presents another challenge - maybe try having a separate cupboard or shelf for his junk food.
Hi, nice to meet you! My suggestion is start out making small changes. For that carb addiction maybe just eliminate one thing from you diet to start. For me it was soda and took me several months to just stop buying Vanilla Pepsi but now I don't or rarely drink anything with calories in it. Still need to work on the chips and fries though. You'll be surprised how much small changes can help.
I have also noticed when I'm eating high carb diet I am so much sluggish and hate working out more than usual. You have to get some momentum going with work out once you commit to doing it after a few days you'll start feeling pretty good about yourself for sticking to it and will make that a little easier I think.

My Reading Journal
Welcome to the board, and the 30's ;-)
That's great that your DH is on his way back home! Is it just for the holidays or permanent? In any case I'm sure you're all looking forward to being together again!
Miranda is right- take a poke around the place, and the journal entries are a great way to see what everyone is up to, and how they're dealing with things!
Starting off is rough- but with a positive frame of mind, and not expecting miracles (there will be downhill races as well as the uphill ones) you will find SUCCESS!
Looking forward to posting with you~
