Getting Frustrated!
| Mon, 01-02-2006 - 9:10pm |
I am a fitness professional and I am having a difficult time trying to lose a mere 5 pounds! I am eating breakfast every morning(Quaker Oatmeal with frozen fruit, no sugar and wheat germ), I have eliminated soft drinks and I am drinking water, not as much as I should but about 64 or more ouncea a day, tons of fruit and vegetables. All I am doing is maintaining weight! I have incorporated weight training (something I never really done in the past, but only for the last 20 minutes of class. I do crosstrain...I am just really losing hope for my goal of 20 pounds!
Any advice?

Hi there Fitlady, welcome to the 30's board!
I too hear your frustration-- just wondering what you do for cardio? I would suggest bumping that up a bit- either in minutes or exertion. Keep on with weight training too though!
Happy New Year, looking forward to seeing you around-

Hey Fitlady!!
I can certainly understand your frustration also!
Well I do a variety of things for cardio like step aerobics, interval workout, running on the treadmill, walking my dog for very long walks at least 2xs a week, the elliptical machine. But I think I actually do more walking during the week and very heavy cardio on the weekends when I teach my fitness classes. My fitness classes primarily consist of interval type plyometric moves, and at least 3 to 4 60 second intervals involving the jump rope.
I am going to add an extra 15 minutes to my workouts during the week and spend more time on the treadmill to see what happens.
Hi Fitlady67!
Just a thought, I had the same issue as you, only it was the last 10 lbs that just would not go away! I up'd my cardio etc etc but nothing happened! SO, I started keeping a food journal and carrying it with me EVERY WHERE! That little nibble of my daughter's chicken nugget, had to write it down.........that one little hersey kiss yup had to write it down. I did this for a week, no cheating, and once I sat down and looked at it I understood why the ten lbs didn't leave and was wondering why more of his friends didn't decide to join him! Amazing! So I continued the food journal, for another week and then another and by the end of 4 weeks I had lost that 10 lbs plus 2 more! LOL, who knew?!
I wish you the best, hang in there and maybe your body is okay with those 5 lbs, after all it is only 5 lbs and if you're taking care of yourself, eating right and exercising that 5 lbs may be your healthy happy body weight. Really, it is all about being happy and Lord knows 5 lbs less weight can bring a joy like no other! Ask any one trying to drop that last 5!
Have fun and have a wonderful New Year! Cheers!
