Okay ladies, digna02 brougt up a great question about how we motivate ourselves!
Keeping in mind how great it will feel to meet my goals.
Improved health and well being.
Setting a good example for my dd.
Imagining how badly I'll feel if I don't keep going and how disappointed in myself I will be.
The long term goal, and probably the most important one, is the long term health and mobility I hope to achieve through healthy eating and regular exercise. I feel so much better when I move, and when I eat well. In a way, it is it's own reward.
I also know I have to keep working hard and be at HKD every time I can so that I can test for black belt at year's end. It will be four years in March (with a two 3 month breaks for injury/illness) that I have been training. Now that it is getting closer, I know that I need to put a lot of effort into it.
I am also working toward running the entire FWO 5k this May, so I'll have to get my rear out and run regularly.
The more short term goal, and the one influenced strictly by vanity, is that I have weddings this late spring and early summer. I want to look good in those strappy dresses.
Reminding myself that every moment can be a fresh start. If I just ate a bag of chips, that doesn't mean the next thing I put in my mouth has to be crap. Anytime is a good time to start fresh. Don't wait till Monday or till the holidays are over. If you have a moment where you feel like you want to exercise grab it and take it. (Is that really motivational?) lol
Going through the motions. It's better than nothing and can lead to more. Go for a 10 minute walk you might feel like doing a 20 minute walk by the time you hit 10 minutes and if not well it was better than nothing and you can feel good about that.
I want to feel good about myself and the only way to that is to require more of myself.
I collect things. Quotes, song lyrics, movie lines, that are inspirational or move me in some way. Mostly uplifting stuff but occasionally something fun or even a little angry or sad but if it reminds me of where I need to be I claim it.
Thought Darcy had a great idea about using a picture of a woman she would like to look like or resemble that "fitness" the picture shows. I have often thought about doing this but thought how weird would people think I am collecting picture of women. lol Think I'm going to change my thinking on that and start including pictures in my collection of quotes and stuff.
