Everday we are bombarded by message about body image - from hearing about various starlets bouts with Bulimia and Anorexia, to Doves commercials telling us to be okay with our bodies regardless of how it looks!

Do you think that the media has gotten any better about promoting healthy body image? I do notice, even in our small daily newspaper, more articles on health and fitness, and on our local TV news as well. Overall I think it has improved, but nothing has really gotten any better in probably about 5yrs or so....I mean there's more available than there was in the 80's let's say, but not much more since the lateish 90's.
Now as for products...well most of them use the *pretty, skinny types*- not the real average kinda

Another think that drives me nuts, is those makeover shows where the women already look great, and they are showing how to dress "10 pounds lighter" or "how to cover that big butt" when they have this tiny little sorry excuse for a butt! Like, come on, how hard is it to disguise your size 6 body?? LOL
Do you think that the media has gotten any better about promoting healthy body image?
not really, for every awesome Dove Comercial, or cool magazine cover with Elle on it, there is 50 spreads of Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton.
Do you think that acceptance of your body regardless of your weight is a healthy attitude?
I think YOUR OWN personal acceptance of your body is key, if you accept you body as is then you have the right to expect others to accept it as well.
What would you like to see from the media in terms of promoting healthy body image?
I would like to see teens, pre-teens with more healthier and realistic bodies being protrayed by the media, this is the new generation of role models for our kids to look up to.

I think there are some companies and magazines that are mindful of promoting healthy body image, but overall I don't think the media has gotten any better.

I think the attitude should be that you love yourself no matter what you're weight is.
