Hi - I'm new to the board - had a day off last week and looked in awe at Kelly Ripa's body after having 3 kids.....I was wondering if anyone knew her workout style...is it yoga? treadmill? weights? I remember reading a portion of an article before that she's happier w/ her body now than ever and this is after having 3 kids.....and I believe the article was all about how great she looks now - but I was in the supermarket line and put the book down before I could get into the good stuff (I'm thinking it was a TV Guide)

I am going to be 36 next month - I'm thin (between a size 2 and 4) and always have been - so it's not extra skin that is loose - but I don't have any tone or definition - and I just ordered some spring/summer clothes from Victorias Secret and I'm so anxious for the warmer weather that I'm ready to get myself toned up...I have 3 kids - the youngest will be 2 so there are 'spots' of concern that I'd like to focus on - specifically lower stomach and sides of my outside/upper thighs - little saggy....

I have a decent treadmill - auto incline and all that stuff - and I have the Arms and Abs of Steel tape - I just don't know how to format a routine that will actually give results...I was also thinking about yoga but I'm not sure of the difference or the benefits of yoga over other routines...I remember a Rosie O'Donnell episode where she had Madonna on there w/ a rock hard body and she said she was all yoga anymore w/ fantastic results....

any help is appreciated!!!

Thanks,

kim

Thank you so much....I may even have a Pilates DVD that I can try - and I'll definitely look into the yoga you mentioned.....I was just in shock that Kelly Ripa was so tiny and so fit after the same amount of kids that I have...

thanks again!!!

another ?

does this mean to skip the tapes and treadmill and go all yoga - or all pilates?

I wouldn't think so, but if you are trying to build muscle mass and not lose more body mass, you want to be careful about how much fat burning exercise you do in relation to how much stregthening exercise you do.

I wouldn't be that surprised, most celebrities are fit and toned even after having twins etc. They have personal trainers that wake them up and work them out everyday, some have cooks, others do the Zone diet and have their meals delivered everyday for 35 bucks a day, not something the average person has access too.

Did you see Denise Richards after having her kids, totally slim and toned. Nature of the beast I suppose, if you have assistants to watch your children, you have 2 hours to devote to working out and your looks and body are your business, you make it back to tip top shape after having them. you know?

Welcome to the 30's Board! I know some others in your same predicament.....and they are trying out a combination of cardio (keeping up with your treadmill) and weight-training. I hear the Firm tapes are good, I'd also recommend some Yoga (also benefits flexability!!)- Pilates too, like Miranda suggested. Good luck, and hopefully we'll see you hanging around with us while you tone up ;-)

Hi, Kim

In addition to what was already mentioned, you might also want to add strength training.

Very good advice in here - you guys are great!

I would imagine that the advice doesn't come without support - I'll be sure to hang around and stay in touch with everyone....I appreciate all the help you've offered here...so here is my goal....I would like to be Kelly Rip'd by summer so starting this weekend - I'm going to prepare my treadmill (propped up in a crowded corner of my room) - my DVD - a space in my room etc....and Monday is E-day....when the kids are in the bathtub - I'm hitting the treadmill or doing a tape...my only problem is exactly what was mentioned - I don't have the time or the nanny to take care of my kids when I want to devote myself to some exercising....and the boys' interest in the bathtub is very shortlived and is never peaceful to say the least....I leave for work at 3:20am every day so exercising before work is out of the question - and on my way home from work at 2pm - I pick up the boys - so time to myself is very slim pickins.....

I really do appreciate the help....maybe I'll look into a Shape magazine....even the pictures of the girls in there is motivational in itself

Thanks Again

I know it's hard to find time to exercise with kids, plus leaving for work in the middle of the night presents an added challenge since you can't get up before the kiddies and work out.
