Well if so I have to brag....I went to a neurologist back at the end of January. I've had bad headaches since I was young, but back in October, I started getting really bad ones, to the point where I felt like I probably had a brain tumor, I mean I got headaches everyday but I just dealt with it, because as usual I was always ignored by doctors. So when I started getting the severe one where I was convinced I had a tumor I bypassed my regular doctor, contacted a headache center in San Diego and got a recommendation for a top neurologist in MA that specializes in headaches his earliest appointment was in January. Got in to see him, spent nearly 2 hours with him, got prescribed some pretty big meds, been taking them and I have not had a headache since valentines day. I am in love with my neurologist, I cannot tell you, I go back next thursday and I am giving him the biggest kiss, he is the biggest life saver ever and the side effect to the drug is loss of appetite...HELLOOOOO LOSS OF APPETITE!!! !THANK YOU!!! LOL

Anyhow...if anyone is interested that gets bad migraines let me know.

Thanks for all that info. Yeah, a 2 hour appointment is good. Shows you they're being in depth. I wonder what I'd have. Did I say I had a CAT scan done? No abnormalities, so that's good. But never had an MRI. I doubt it'd freak me out. Depending on how long it is. lol.

Glad that you're feeling better though. I know how sucky headaches can be and how much they can interrupt daily life.

btw. I have an appt with an internal medicine specialist, do you think he's the type of doc to hit up about this? I'm going to him to try and get allergy tested. Just thought maybe I can kill two birds with one stone. KWIM?

ETA: how'd you get in touch with the Dr. Blumenfeld? did you just email him, or call the center? and did you use your medical insurance for your neurologist? btw, Dr. Blumenfeld is kinda cute. lol. I'd go kiss him too. Want me to pass it on for you? j/k. How did all this go down, basically? As we speak, I can feel my head start to hurt. :(

Basically through the years I've approached my regular doctors in regards to my headaches, I pretty much have headaches on a daily basis, some days worse then others, back starting in the summer I started getting these bad ones where if I turned my neck a certain way, it felt like I was compressing a vein in my neck and I would get an instant pain in my head like someone was stabbing me with an icepick, that is about the best description I could give, I was going in for a psysical so figured I would just kill two birds with one stone, so I brought it up to the doctor at that time (my primary care phsyician) she had prescribed me 800 mg ibroprofuen for some leg pain I was experiencing so said it should help wiht the headaches as well. by October I was having the sharp headaches pretty regularly and I said enough was enough I don't need a referral to see a specialist I typed into Google "Neurologist that specializes in Headaches" because I didn't want to waste a neurologist that didn't specialize in headaches time and found the headache center, found Dr. Blumenfeld and noticed he went to school here in MA so figured he may have some colleauges out this way so I just emailed him told him what I had been experiencing told him I wasn't really interested in going into Boston but was wondering if he knew of anyone in the Worcester area that was good in the field and he told me about Dr. Markeley and so I called for an appointment, I had to wait 4 months to get in but I got in, of course by the time I went in to see Dr. Markeley I almost cancelled the appointments because the blinding icepick headaches weren't happening anymore, but I still went and now I'm glad I did. I don't know how it is for your doctors, but it's like pulling teeth in my area to get a regular doctor to do anything for you, it's like my PCOS, they won't do anything for me, I asked about seeing an endocronologist to get my hormone levels leveled off, my primary care doctor says, well we don't have to worry about that until you are ready to have a baby, and I'm thinking, why should htat matter, my hormone levels are all screwed up right now right? That's why I have a beard, have excess weight and the hair loss on my head, wouldn't it be good to get my hormone levels worked out and on the right path whether or not I'm ready ot have a baby now or not???? It's like they don't give a crap unless you make them. So I just said screw it, I'll just go right ahead and do it myself.
