I have 11 weeks to lose 20lbs. Help!!
| Mon, 03-06-2006 - 2:29pm |
Okay ladies, it's semi-official. I am getting married in about 11 weeks. I sooooo want to lose about 20lbs.
I soooo need help on how to do this. I hope bf will be okay with me running more on the weekends, because I need to exercise.
So, what do I need to do, to lose that much weight? I swear, I'm going to do this. I refuse to weigh this much when I say "I do". I REFUSE!!!
I have to kick this into overdrive, without driving myself into the ground. I know I can't just jump into this, but at the same time, I also know I need to get the ball rolling, big time.
Any suggestions? Let's see. Do cardio (30-60mins/day???? yikes). Do weights (which will help burn faster). Eat less calories. Am I missing anythign to get this done....besides starving?

Wow, congratulations. What's the wedding date? Ours is May 13.
Seems like you're on the right track, I hear that one needs to do about one hour of cardio average of five times per week for weight loss. Adding strength training will help to, but you probably know that you need to give yourself a day between strength training sessions. Pilates is really good for toning too.
You will likely have a lot to do in the next few weeks, so don't let this drive you crazy. For me, it helps to relieve some of the stress though.
Good luck to you, and again congrats.
Congratulations!!
My best advice is stick to it. Don't have those days or weekends where you just let go. However, plan for something so you don't feel deprived or to controled by the whole thing.
Have something fun to eat and some down time too. Plus I think if you are preoccupied with planning that will help too.

Thanks.
Wow, 5 times a week, huh? So that means everyday that I don't go to school. Oh man. BUT, if I do this, I will feel GREAT about my body. :) And thanks for the reminder about the strength training day off. I totally forgot. lol. Pilates, huh? I may have to try that.
Gratefully, we're not planning a real wedding with guests.......otherwise, yes, I'd be massively stressed. I'm just slightly stressed. LOL.
Congrats to you though!! The date will be either May 19 or 20th. I haven't set it down in stone yet.
Holy Crap!
Well, well, well---- HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to you & K!!!!!
Can't believe you kept us in the dark about that one Cher ;-)

Oh, I know. lol. It's so out of left field considering, but well, we agreed to keep our initial time frame, which is May. lol. We just kinda took a break for 3 months. {blush} hehehe. but thanks.
and I'm with you. I could do weight training all day long. I soooooooooo hate cardio. But of course, you do realize what my body loves, right? The weights. lol. I hate cardio. Okay, I better try positive reinforcment with "I love cardio, can't wiat to go running".
Thanks. I agree. I have to stick to the 15 mins a day. Or at least 15 on my school days, and preferbly 30 - 50 on non-school daze.
for anyone - how bad is it to only do running as cardio, versus mixing it up with bike/stair climber, etc.
well, I didn't really keep it from you, as we decided all this on Saturday. IT's been a long time coming, so although fast since our back togetherness, not fast in the overall picture. lol. Yeah yeah yeah, I know, still a shocker.
Water? I hate water. Oh wait, I just told Miranda, positive thinking. I LOVE water.
Okay, thanks girls. I know it's the basics, but I guess, I'd love to lose the 20 in 10 weeks, which means getting the maximum out of what is "healthy" weight to lose.
for anyone: any thoughts on supplements? I think we went thru this before, most of you dno't go that route. I may think about it, for the short-term.
I think the biggest mistake people make when trying to lose weight is that they over do it.
Thanks, that was very informative and helpful and yes, I agree, I dn't want to burn out. as i type this, on my laptop, my stomach is bulging lol. i look pregnant. On the upside, I am getting back in the habit of eating ever few hours. the downside, while at school, i tend to eat junk. i need to start packing healthier snacks and leave it at that.
I don't know if I can make the 2lbs a week, but I'm gong to try...at least for this. I can hope to lose at least 10-15, that would be nice, and I'd feel so much better about myself. and i know my bf will marry me regardless.:) i just rather him think, "she's hot, she's mine". LOL.
Again, thank. I'm taking all these wonderful suggestions and putting them up around my office and in my notebook to remind me NOT to eat junk and to control my portions. :) tomorrow, will be my first test (eating out for lunch). water water water. a plus to that too, i'm saving $2-$4 on drinks. :)
