Hi! I thought I would post an introduction and join the board. In a couple months I will be 30 and I can't think of a better present to myself than losing a few pounds before that happens! I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old and before having them I had a fairly regular excersise routine of one run in the morning and one run at night. I was able to maintain a size 5 figure with no problem. I had been an overweight teen my whole life due to lack of proper nutrition and excersise. When I got to college and discovered running and healthy eating I was able, for once in my life, experience what it feels like to wear nice clothes and not be ashamed of the extra weight. Long story short, after having my kids I have fallen into a slump and gone back to being a little overweight. I don't want it to become a life long pattern.

Last July I started a diet and excersise routine of walking around my neighborhood. I went from 163 to 138 by the end of November. Then our cold weather hit and I stopped walking. The good news is I didn't gain it all back. The bad news is that I am 142 and can't seem to break below that amount. Now the weather is changing again slightly and I am looking forward to excersising more again. Anyway that is where I am at right now. Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi, nice to meet you! I have a 2 year old too and 3 older ones. It does seem the closer we get to our goal weight the harder it becomes to get our weight off. Hope you find this an inspirational place full of ideas and encouragement.

Good luck!

Thanks for the welcome! As you know, when you have a 2 year old you can't be as fancy free as when they are older. I hope he still wants to go for fast rides in the jogging stroller this summer! My 5 year old loves to walk with me. I have been out of shape for so long I hope I can get back into the swing of it!

Thanks for the welcome! I am by Seattle Washington so we share very similar weather I am sure! My we are thinking of buying an eliptical machine for indoor excersise. I have some yoga dvd's but they seem very slow to me. Maybe I gave up on them too fast. If you have any good recommendations I am all ears.

Thanks for the welcome and the compliment! Like on another thread on here I use to have a sosos'mommy name. I am a very proud mother but I felt that I needed to express myself as more than my relationship to the most important people to me. For some reason it never really felt right to me to put my childs name up there and identify myself as their mother end of story. I think my name is a little goofy but I have been trying for the last few years to spoil myself a little along with everyone else and it is the happiest I have ever been in my life. I am one of those people that can easily put myself at the bottom of the list and dwell there if I don't make a an effort to be aware of it. I really hope I can lose the weight when I start going outdoors again. I can't jog like I use to because it makes me feel sick and my knees and hip aren't as good as they use to be when I was younger. Probably because I am so out of shape! Speed walking as produced some good results though and maybe I can ease into jogging again when I am in better shape.

Hi, and welcome to the board!

As you've found out this place is filled with great women ;-)
(I loved reading your post in the 'what would you do?' thread)

The cold weather hits many hard.....and stunts their exercise routine! Miranda suggested workout tapes, you can check out a plethora of them here: www.collagevideo.com

With the warmer weather coming, hopefully you'll be back outside walking soon!

Looking forward to seeing you around~
