Does your weight change during th month?

I have noticed that I fluctuate about 5 pounds depending on what time of the month it is. Anyone else? How do you track accurately?

I noticed this after I did the first week of south beach & gained 2 pounds. The next week I went back to my regular eating & lost 5 pounds - which put me right back at my weight of the same time last month. Once I started looking at it week by week I realized that I've lost & gained the same 5 pounds on a pretty consistant basis.

I guess I'm just frustrated because I feel like I'm not getting anywhere & now I feel like there isn't any real way to track because of all the fluctuations.

My weight definitely fluctuates around aunt flo time. I always gain about 5 pounds right before that week and yep, every month it frustrates me and I find myself reevaluating what I am doing only to realize that its "the week". On the flip side, the week after is always a great week for weight loss. Because of this, even though I monitor my weight throughout the month, I always try to look at the month as a whole at the end of it. It is frustrating, I completely understand what you are going through.

If I look at my charts, I tend to fluctuate within 5 lbs, if I'm just "maintaining" that weight. So, if you find, that's your norm, you could be the type of person that no matter where you are, if you're not losing, you're maintaining within 5lbs.

So, unless you want to lose more than those 5, I would assume you are a "fluctuator" lol. Hugs. I know it sucks. But some ppl are like that. If you saw my journal, it says, so far, on our 6-week challenge, i seemed to have gained 2 inches and 2 pounds so far, but then again, AF is here, and I know that when I start to run/workout I gain weight because of the muscle too. Normally, I will fluctuate within 1-3lbs in a month.

I know exactly what you mean - I definitely gain weight around that time of the month and gain inches too!!

HOWEVER, I also think that we tend to adjust our eating habits based on what we are seeing on the scale, so if we see that we have gained a few pounds we are more apt to stay on track and then when we lose those same pounds we let ourselves go back to our regular eating and exercising habits so we really just maintain our weight.

I know I've learned that if I see the same weight loss or gain over two weeks then I can record it as a loss or gain, and not to alter my habits based on what I see on the scale, because I'll just end up going in circles!!

Ann- I think as women most of us are in that same boat! I too go through the fluctuations, but like Cher I try to look at the month as a whole, and like Miranda I wait to see that loss as "steady" before being satisfied with it as a 'genuine' loss. My TOM is approaching, but I know at this stage to be prepared for a few extra pounds, and know that they'll float away after TOM ;-)

It is frustrating tough!

My BC makes me retain an extra 6 pounds I kid you not. For this reason I am thinking of going back off of them. I feel really uncomfortable carrying around that much water. The bloat is just sick. When I am off of them within about 3 days I lose 6 pounds. Then I go back on and in 3 days I gain 6 pounds. I try to go with the monthly weight for this reason.
