Wedding Weigh Loss
26
Wed, 03-22-2006 - 12:26pm

Okay, I'm happy about the wedding. Sad I haven't really lost anything. I guess I can attribute it to gaining muscle, but all my clothes fit the same too. Seriously, I have been working out at least 3 days a week and walking A LOT on the weekends. I am totally exhausted because of school. I'm eating better than normal. And yet, NOTHING!!! Someone, just shoot me.

So, okay. I have 1 month before I should find a dress and 2 months before I get married. What would you ladies suggest for some weight-loss. For now, fast is fine, I just wanna feel good about myself. I know when I went to Vegas, I felt good about my weight, even though I was still "fat". Because I had lost about 10lbs and my clothes were just falling off my body.

I weigh 146 right now. In December, I weighed 140. By May, I was hoping to be 130-135. But since I'm not even losing 1lb a week, what am I doing wrong?

Someone, help. Should I go to slimfast everyday? Just to lose and then slowly reincorporate food and do it the "healthy" way after the wedding? I know K doesn't care how I look, but I'd really like to feel GOOD in the dress and not look at the pictures later and throw them out.

Sad day (being half asleep isn't helping the "depression").

Hey Cher I know putting in an effort and still not seeing any results is disappointing.

Let me tell ya, the pressure is on. The bride is supposed to be beautiful and perfect. My SO tells me I look good, but I'm the one who has to put on the little ivory dress and stand up in front of my family and friends, and then, look at the pictures later - and pictures make people look bigger, especially people in ivory dresses. I should wear black.

I'm just doing the best I can at putting the time into my workouts. I like to do over an hour, but lately I've had to settle for about an hour. And when SO's sister was in the hospital and he wanted me to go with him to visit, I had to settle for less some days. As the wedding gets closer, and SO's sister goes in for the surgery and things get crazy, I am just going to get as much time walking/running in as I can. I also want to get two really good weights workouts in each week 'cause my dress will reveal all of my arms and shoulders and most of my back (what was I thinking).

I also want to take the time at the beginning of each week to stock up on fruits and lots of veggies and some chicken so I'm not eating too little, but I'm eating the right things. It's so hard. I'm going home next weekend for my B-day, and I know mom will make a cake.

I saw lots of good suggestions from Miranda. I'm sure they will help. At least there's something you can do about this one. I have been having breakouts again, like I'm sixteen or something. Can't wait to see how it turns out on the big day. And I get them on my back too sometimes, OMG, so stressful.

Whatever happens, I'm sure you'll look great. I think it was the pastor of the church I used to attend who said he had never, ever seen an ugly bride. I just keep reminding

Wow!!! Thanks for all that info. I will work on keeping up with Fitday.com for the rest of the week (thru sunday). So far, at least today has been good, I'm at 890 cals and that includes my almond snack. I just have to throw in dinner too. Okay, I went to see my %'s, yikes, here's the problem probably. lol. 50% fat, 29% carb, 21% protein. Maybe I should track THAT part. that was kinda scary. granted, today was a fast food day.

As for eating late. However, lately I've been working out for a minimum of 25 mins prior to eating after school. And I have been trying to eat something healthy. Usually it's either a SlimFast or a Lean Cuisine. But yes, that means I'm eating around 10:30-11pm. On the upside, I do eat breakfast, snack (sometimes), a big lunch, snack before class (usually my carrots), snack maybe during class (usually my almonds), and small dinner. When I don't have class, I eat my carrots in the morning and almonds in the PM and still eat a small dinner. I don't usually eat a big dinner. YAY! lol.

ETA: now i remember why i don't use fitday.com, lol. It took me over 15 mins to add in turkey, pinapples, cabbage, and oil

Okay, I can't wear black, but I'm not wearing white (maybe). lol. And I'm starting to get in the arm/back workouts too. I do "bathroom push-ups". Meaning, I do 15 push-ups on the bathroom counter, everytime I have to go. And with trying to drink more, I'm going more often. lol. I need to up the cardio, and after looking at TWO days on fitday, dear gawd I'm digesting a lot of fat. Yikes.

Good luck on the birthday. Maybe your mom can make you a "healthy" cake, like strawberry shortcake. I made one for my dad, fat-free and low in cals, cuz he couldn't eat fat at the time. It really was good. =)

I think I just have to resign to the fact that I'll be fat when I get married, and suck it up in my photos, just like the other two weddings. lol. Will starving work? (j/k)

There are three suggestions I have Cher:

  • I would try the slim fast, not that I'm an advocate for it (or Special K) but it might just be the (temporary) "key" you're looking for!

  • Water- Water- Water! (I would put $$ on you losing a couple of lbs with increasing your water alone!! At least I know I would, lol....note to self: practice what you preach, lol)

  • One-a-day "weight smart' vitamins. Worked for me...

The reason I give these suggestions they a) don't interfere with your already full schedule and b) none are too dangerous or too expensive.

Just my thoughts though ;-)

okay, i'm switching over to cereal in the AM, slimfast at night. I'm already doing the multi-vitamin plus those supps, so I think that's almost overkill.

Water, huh? what exactly does that do for weight loss? besides make you walk to the restroom a lot more?

Read: http://www.inch-aweigh.com/water.html

and: http://www.ultimatefatburner.com/articles/water.html

Seriously Cher, when I was "on the wagon, in earnest" and drinking between 80-100oz a day I was losing at least 1-2lbs a week. Now grant it I was working out regularly, and not drinking an occasional beer. My food intake was not as different as it is now. I truly think water was the key for me!

drink drink guzzle guzzle

I'll go read the articles and up my intake of water. I know I obviously will drink more if I exercise. Now, to figure out how to drink more at work (at least I'm drinking water with my meals now, cheaper too). My container only holds about 36oz. Do I need to buy TWO!? and lug them around? ugh. I know where I can get exactly what I want though....hmmm. That, or maybe I'll start bringing a BIG thing of water to work and putting it under my desk. As

Okay, y'all inspired me. THANK YOU!!!

I had to go grocery shopping tonight. I bought milk for my daily cereal. I bought spinach to make a salad to go with my slimfast at night. I need more than a drink. i bought bananas for snacks, and more carrots for snacks too. I bought these Skillet Sensations, 4 of them, for dinner for me and K (so we cook it, instead of eating out). each serving is like 300 calories. and its 2 servings per bag. and trust me, i could eat a 1/4 of it and be full. so yay. me buying it now will prevent us from eating out fri/sat/sun or at least not as much. i figure, eat out friday, and sat lunch. sat dinner and sun dinner we can eat those things. and sun lunch we cna make at home. :) I also bought lunch meat, but it's healthy choice, so okay. and i read all the labels and bought some wheat bread. it said 100% wehat bread, i didn't believe it, but after reading a lot of labels, i'd say this is good stuff. I also bought almonds for a snack. they're my fatty good snack. :)

so yay on that. i'm going to stick to the cereal breakfast, banana snack, lunch (made or bought, but a healthier choice), carrot snack, slimfast dinner with a spinach salad. and almonds for dessert or snack at school. i'm going to figure out how much cals that is on fitday, and stick to all the same stuff, except for lunch. trust me, thats the one area i NEED to vary.

wish me luck. lol
