Had a great night of sleep!
| Tue, 03-28-2006 - 10:26am |
Now not that I was extremely tired or anything last night, but I got into bed at about 11.30 (usual time for me) and read for about half an hour or so.
Slept like a log, might have woken up once or twice, but don't really remember.
Rolled over this morning to check out the time and couldn't believe it was 8am! I'm supposed to be at school by 8am. D'oh!
Called my boss to let her know and to tell my assistant. She was very understanding and told me she'd have the coffee ready, lol!!
Anyone else ever late to work, and how does you boss/co-workers deal with it?

I am lucky...my company has flex time. You work your 40 hours (or additional if required for salary) and, unless you miss a meeting, you are good. My boss is good about understanding the issues of life, he has 3 kids and is a little league coach to one of his sons.
I actually have been waking up before my alarm clock. I also have the husband alarm clock, he gets up pretty early. Unless he's on vacation, I normally can't oversleep. Otherwise, I may freak out for oversleeping! Just the idea of having to rush around, flex time or not, I like to get in the office between 7:00 - 7:30.
Before the sale of the paper, we were basically on time if we got to work between 8:00 and 8:30, although I often was in by 8:00. But it was nice to have that flexibility. Now, we have no legitimate management. The editor is the closest thing we have, and he's never in this office, so we're not late if we get here before anyone starts looking for us. Again, I do try to get in by about 8:00 a.m. I want to keep a routine for the day that I do get a good job again.
Much of the time, especially in the nice weather, I'm walking to work. Although I generally don't oversleep, I really like to be ready on time if someone is going to give me a ride. I over sleep for church more than for work because I don't set my alarm on Sundays. I figure my cat will have awakened me long before I need to get up, but that hasn't always happened.
I do hate that feeling. It feels like the whole day is off when you wake up late.

I absolutely, positively hate to get up & go anywhere, much less work. That being said - I am never late because of me or sleeping in. DH makes me late a lot cause he parks behind me in the driveway. Traffic is also a b!*** around here & if one car stops on the side of the road there goes a half hour of sitting for nothing. I refuse to get up any earlier than 5:30 no matter what. Good thing my boss doesn't say anything although I normally beat her in anyway.

Aagh..unfortunately, being late isn't a luxury I have.
IG, even though you were late to work I'm soooo glad you got a fabulous night's rest!!
Well I think I know now why I slept in.....darn allergies!! My morning was fine, but during lunch I developed a killer headache (wasn't even interested in getting something to eat!)
Got back to work and asked my admin for an allergy pill (she suffers too)...that worked, for the remainder of the school day, barely!
Came home from work at about 4pm, and passed out! I mean seriously OUT! Woke up at about 7pm and it's all I can do now to stay up for a little longer....after all I don't want to be up, and fully awake at 2am!!
Ugh- hate this!
We have 'Sahara Dust' sitting on us right now so anyone suffering from allergies is in the same boat. I know of at least 2 others who have the exact same symptoms as myself. Pressure headache, stuffy nose and sore throat!!
.....as for the late to work thing, it happens rarely. Maybe 5mins now and then, but this morning was 30mins. It irritates me too when co-workers are consistently late, and then you end up picking up their slack. I don't want to be one of those.....I was apologizing all morning, lol!
Every achievement starts with a little legwork!

Hey IG, hope you found something you can take for those allergies!
