Love Handles

Hi ladies!

I have a problem: I'm pretty fit, I exercise regularly, I weigh 57kg and I'm 1.67m tall (sorry about the metrics, but I haven't got a clue about lbs and feet), my BMI is 21 and I sort of think I look decent. Last night, however, I had a good look in the mirror and I probably shouldn't have done that. Once again, I noticed my love handles. They're not very big, but as I don't really have a waist, they make me look like I bulge sideways. It's ugly. And I don't know how to lose them.

Any suggestions? I appreciate everything. :)

Thanks.

Hey Pipsa, good to see you- it's been a while ;-)

I like Miranda's suggestion of Pilates for targeting that area. Also using a ball for various tummy exercises. Find a few of them here: http://www.busywomensfitness.com/abdominal-exercises.html

I'm impressed! Where did you learn that? :)

I've thought about Pilates, but so far it's been difficult to fit it in my programme. I do muay thai twice a week, go to the gym at least once a week, and play badminton once a week, and within a month or so I'll be back on the golf course again (as soon as the snow melts...), so another class would leave me with one "free" night. But I'll definitely put it on my list. Thanks!

The exercises with a ball sound like something I could actually do at home. Even though I've fallen off a ball a couple of times and hurt myself, but that's another story... Practise makes perfect, I'm sure...

Thank you!

Unfortunately, you can't spot reduce. You would have to lose fat overall in order to lose the love handles. "Toning" your waist will do nothing to reduce fat. Proper diet and exercise is the best way to go in order to get rid of fat.

You're right about the combination of diet and exercise. I think I've reached the point where I no longer can eat anything I want if I want to lose the fat around my waist. When I started muay thai, I lost 6kg in a short time, and I've weighed the same since. I'm firmer now, though, so I assume I've lost more fat than that. But the love handles sit tight, and they bother me the most. Maybe I could lose the chocolates, as much as it will hurt... ;)

What is TaeBo? I have to admit I've never heard of it...
