I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to get yourself motivated. I can't get myself to workout!! I feel too lazy and saying oh I'll start tomorrow. I really want to start working out, but keep putting it off. I guess I don't know where to start. I do want to lose weight.

I have a kind of dumb tip, I set the alarm to get up early and go the gym, I weigh myself daily which I know sometimes back fires, but anyway if I weigh more than i did the day before I say to myself I have to work out to lose the extra weight, if its less then I say I have to work out since its working and I will lose more weight, kind of dumb but it helps me exercise.

Also I remember that Summer is around the corner.

I wish I had some good advice but motivation is a tough one. Maybe start trying different things for fun and see what happens. Maybe you'll find something that isn't all that bad.

Also, if it's a nice day out force yourself to go out for a walk. You'll be surprised how peaceful and relaxing it is.

First of all what are your options for working out? Do you have a gym membership? Do you have equipment at home? Are either of those options even in your budget?

Secondly, do you like the idea of going solo, or having company?

If a gym membership or home equipment is out of the question you will need to find an outdoor activity. A lot of times that means walking. Window shopping can be a workout if the idea of just walking is not appealing to you. I would also check into Community Schools programs. Often times there are classes offered at a much better price than a gym. Also check your communtiy calendar for various groups in your area. Sometimes there are running or walking clubs. See what is out there. I would also check to see if there is an Overeaters Anon group in your area, or TOPS, those kinds of support groups maybe able to hook you into what is available in your area that is budget friendly and motivational.

Personally, I find it easier to workout in the morning. I also have more energy during the day. Figure out when your burst of energy is. I know very few people that can really workout after work. Most of us just feel burnt out at the end of the day. So it takes a lot more to motivate.

Just some thoughts. Good luck. when you are ready you will find that you CAN do this.

Here's my two cents (I rarely offer it)

Find something physical that you "LOVE" to do. Don't just go to a gym & muddle through the motions just to lose weight.

Find an activity that makes you psyched to get to. An activity that makes you happy when engaging in it. I'm a runner but I know friends who hate running & love biking. I have friends who have been goin to Jazzercise for 7yrs, but it's not my thing! There are so many physical activities that you can engage in, have fun & tone up! I've heard of a woman who lost weight having lots of sex! (Maybe not for me either, LOL).
You get the point. Let us know how you make out!

Thanks for all the good advice. I really appreciate it. I guess I'm gonna have to find something that I like to do. Not sure what yet. But morning I think will be the best time to execise. What ever that is going to be, I'm not sure yet....lol

I can't post anything about motivation because I've only just started back exercising this week... but the advice about doing something you love is really great. I would exercise every day if it was horseback riding! :o) Sadly, I don't have a horse, and I couldn't possibly fit in a couple hours of riding even three times a week because of my schedule with the family. But you know, it would be a great thing to do (for me)! :o)

Motivation: Desire to accomplish a goal or participate in an endeavor.

The ladies are right.....find something you WANT to do and ENJOY doing! Lots of people enjoy morning workouts, and if you can get up and do it, then go for that choice. I'm not the early morning type and prefer to workout early evening. Doing it early in the day also helps set you up for the day ahead. Good luck!

I think sometimes the only thing you can do is MAKE yourself get up and move to exercise.

Have someone take photos of you in a bikini or a two piece bathing suit. Look at those photos.

That was the beginning of the end for me for me.
