I think you have to think of a few factors when answering this question- how fast are you going? is the treadmill on an incline, etc...
Also have you been working out before taking on this 'schedule'?
20mins a day is a good start, 'they' recommend' 30mins a day, but we all know that isn't always possible so if you can manage 20mins- wonderful!
Perhaps you could do the 30mins 3x's a week, and then on other days something a little less; a more gentler walk....
In any case, do what feels right for you!

More calories, per day, or per week? Let's assume per week. Then the answer would be 20 mins a day. Purely because, it's 140 mins in a week, versus 90.
Also, if you want to up your calories, change the incline to even 1-2% and you'll burn more. Just make sure you're form is still correct (not holding the sides, the front, and walking/running naturally).
