body fat percentage

I recently got one of those body-fat measuring scales. My body fat is hovering about 7-8% above where I'd like it to be. Does anybody know what the best way is to lose body fat? And is 7-8% a huge amount of body fat to lose? I remember that about 2 years ago, before my 15-20 pound weight gain, my body fat percentage was pretty good. Does that mean if I lose the 15 or so pounds I want to lose, my body fat will go back down to what it was?

Thanks!

Here's something I found:

The best way to exercise will depend on whether you want fat burning, fitness or muscle toning. The way we choose to exercise determines the results and which fuel the working cells use, for example, a more aggressive way of exercising will result in the use of carbohydrates

Oh good lord! No wonder I can't lose any weight with 3,500 calories in a lb. of fat. This is good information to know. Helps put things in perspective.

Once someone asked me this when I was working out at the rec. Of course, I had no clue but made me feel good that maybe I looked like someone who would no such a thing. Or could

Good for you! This is why the BMI is not really an accurate indicator ... I am the opposite of you -- even though the BMI says I'm in the "normal" range, my body fat percentage is too high. :(
