Do you workout in front of your family?

or friends? roommates, etc?

I ask, because I realized long ago, I am embarrassed to workout in front of people I know, or a lot of people. That's why I rarely go to the "big" gym (as in the kind you pay an arm for, for the membership). I loved running at my old apt, because I could in the dark (no lights, only lighted by lights from outside), and no one was really there. I also would do my aerobic tapes at home.

Well, now that I'm living with K full-time, I doubt I'll ever do any sort of workout at home. I don't like to. Even when living with my folks, I'd either exercise before they came home, or upstairs (where no one was around). I noticed the gym is further than the one at my old apt, so I don't wanna walk there. I also noticed, there are too many good looking skinny ppl at my apt complex. lol. That intimidates me.

So, I just wondered, for those that are like this, what have your solutions been? I don't have enough time to workout after K leaves in the morning, and he's home before me. I can hit the gym, just need to get past the whole "far and beautiful ppl" thing.

Or am I alone on this one? lol.

Y'know, I was talking to my co-worker about this. Motivation and doing it yourself. See, he and I both are team players. We always played team sports. So, when it comes to motivating ourselves, it's not a lot there. It's usually about "not letting the team down" that motivates us.

So, I can see why I'm failing horribly at this weight loss thing. I can bet you, if I had a team, not to let down, I'd prolly be very strict about everything. lol.

So, you go girl, be the individual competitive person and work out with those other crazy ppl.lol. Me, I'll sit here and wonder....where's my team. LOL. And to think I always thought I was very competitive. Come to find out, I"m mostly competitive against other people.

I think that's why I liked the race. I also felt REALLY good when I was on the treadmill, this lady came in, did her thing, and left before I was done. Usually I'm the one going in then leaving before other people. THAT part made me feel competitive and good. Not much else though. lol.

this would also explain why I don't care to get "better" at golf.

Here is an idea for all of you "team players"....we do this at the resort once a year....Try to get your company to "sponsor" a weightloss contest........depending on the size of your company have teams of 2 - 4ppl and calculate weightloss by % of body weight lost.

I know what you mean, although I am making progress, but slowly.

I just signed up for another 5K; I told DH last night that it would be weird because it would be my first co-ed race. He thought that was a strange statement for me to make. He wondered what difference it made. When I thought about it, he was right. I'm the only female in HKD class most of the time and have been since the first year I started training when Ann and Adrian were still training.

It's not just the guy thing either. Sometimes I don't want to go out for a walk/run because I just don't want to be seen. I want to be "invisible" when I exercise sometimes. I did get over that in the city I just left. I had the track at the park and was used to it and didn't mind being seen as much.

I'm
