Anyone Play Tennis?

DH is a golfer, but other than that, he will not do any exercise. He walked with me twice I think since I've been at his house. I decided that DH might be a social exerciser since he won't do any on his own and really doesn't even like to walk unless he's walking on a golf course.
Since there are tennis courts in our city, at the school, that are open to the public, I thought maybe DH and I could play. He used to participate in "racket sports" all the time during college he told me last night, our first night out on the tennis court together, and my first night on a tennis court ever.
We got two mid level tennis rackets with our Target gift card, and tennis balls (other things too). So we went out last evening. We were playing on

Your post makes me want to get out on a court Lorie!! I haven't played in about a year.....
I used to play in school and have played on and off in the past 10yrs or so. Basically I'm still learning too, lol! Congrats on hitting the ball!!!! I'm sure like everything else practice will help. As for how long, well like everything else too, it will all depend. How much you're playing, who you're playing with, etc.
I think your DH is getting ahead of himself instructing you on slices, etc...LOL, but it's cute!
As for the other couples playing, don't worry about them. They are sure to understand that not everyone can 'control' their balls.
Hope you get out there again soon, and I will make an effort to call a friend of mine for a game soon too!

I can see how it would be rather addictive. I told DH we should go once a week. He said more, which is great, just didn't want to push my luck with him since he's just starting to be active again.
I hope you get out on the court soon. To have played for that length of time and then go awhile without playing would indeed
DH and I bought rackets, we have yet to play. But then again, we have yet to play golf. lol. It's been two months. I can't say how long it'll take to get proficient, however, have fun.
BTW, golf is great exercise. 5 hours of walking, swinging, hiking, thick grass (if you're not so great, lol). I noticed, when I stop playing, I gain weight fast.
Gotta get DH and me to the courts. I'm gald you got him to go. Tell him not to put too much spin on it for now. lol. I'd stick to at least the basics, and get it to go where you want it to go. Before working on those things.
It was
Great job on getting out there!!!
I'd stick to at least the basics, and get it to go where you want it to go.
Sounds like a good plan to me. DH is so excited to get back into shape so he can beat his son, LOL. I'll tell him to save it for his son, and if DH doesn't beat him the first time out, said son may get complacent then DH can beat him for sure.
As for us, it was fun to have something like that to do together. I'm looking forward to going out there often. As for golf, I don't think DH wants me to take up "his" sport, and I'm too busy anyway with Hap Ki Do and stuff.
I see you're running a 5k soon. Good luck with the race, and with the training.
It is good to have found something like this we can do together. I think it'll be fun. I would like to be competent at it at some point, but getting there will be fun too I guess.
Hey Lorie, didn't you just go to FL for your friends wedding/your honeymoon? How was it?
Or have I got the dates all screwy??

I can't believe it, but yes, my friend did get married two weeks ago today. We actually left the week prior, on June 1st.
We had a great time. We left out Thursday evening and went down to the Ohio/West Virginia border. We then headed to Charlotte, NC to see our former publisher and his wife, stayed with them until Sunday. It was really good to see them. From there we went on to Charelston, SC. That was fun too, had fresh crab cakes there, yum. Oh, on the way there, we stopped and hiked in a national forest in SC.
From there we went on to Savannah. That was also a fun city. We walked on the old stone streets along the river and had dinner. Then we had our one real dessert stop on the trip, a little candy/ice cream shop. We shared a key lime gelato and a praline cookie. OMG, those were good.
From there we went on to St. Augustine, FL. That was a nice city too, but rather "touristy" as DH called it. The fun thing there, though was that we were able to climb to the top of the lighthouse, which I loved, DH not so much. You can still learn new things about your mate after you're married. I'll have to send a picture from the top along soon. It was beautiful. Then we toured the museum, formerly the light keeper's house.
From there it was on to Orlando for Tori's wedding. Prior to that it hadn't been too hot, but in Orlando it was in the mid 90's each day and the 70's overnight. The wedding was fun though, and they seem very happy. Good news is that she has moved back here where her now husband is living. I've got my GF back!
So that's the "brief" description of our trip.
