Frustrated with Food

I'm reading a sports nutrition book right now. It has some good information, much of which we already know, but it goes into a lot more detail about what foods actually do for our body and what nutrients certain foods provide us with and all of those details. It also has information about what to eat and what to avoid, besides the obvious all things fried.
I have no issues with the book; I have found the book to be very interesting and well written. But it does conflict a bit with some other things I've heard as far as the very best choices as to what to eat, especially in restaurants. I'm trying not to gain back all of the weight it took a while to lose before the weddings this year, with a husband who likes meat, pork especially, and just really doesn't want to see me having a SlimFast or cottage cheese for dinner. He likes me the way I am and would rather I don't "obsess" about food.
The other thing is when we go out. I try to make the best choice, then find out I haven't made the best choice. Then we went to TasteFest on Saturday and had so much fun, but that's all fried food, well not all, but there's no point in pretending that event is diet friendly. We had coconut shrimp, crab cakes, jambalaya, an Indian chicken dish, pineapple fried rice, a couple chili cheese fries...the good thing is that DH and I shared the "taste" size of these things so you get to sample a lot, but you don't eat a meal of all these things.
Anyway, my point in this rant is that, after the weddings in June, I was enjoying life a bit more and watching my diet a bit less strictly. I want to get back watching it very strictly, but I just don't seem to be able to. Life, DH (very well meaning though he is) and my will power all seem to get in the way of good intentions. As a note, I exercise regularly still, because I like that part of it.
Do you ever just get tired of trying to find the perfect balance?
Maybe I should have used the "vent" icon.

Hence my search for a hypnotherapist of any sort...........
You named all the problems most of us have. You slipped. You have to watch your diet very closely or else gain. You aren't living to enjoy, you're living to be a number.
I'm done with that. Either I change, or I don't. I'm hoping I can. BTW, I'm also researching LICENSED hypnotherapists (per your skeptic side, lol), since they say it's best to combine hypnosis with behaviorial modification. For long term results.
Hugs. I know your hardships. And am tired of them too.

That's too funny. It's true though. I really could probably wear a size six just around
