To be honest Miranda, I don't, nor have I ever really followed a plan so even after looking and thinking about the questions I can't think of any answers that I could apply.
I'll be interested in what others have to post though......
I'm not following anything particular right now. I often I like it for awhile to be on a "plan" but end up feeling too controlled by it. However, I do pick and choose what parts fit into my life the best.
Hey Miranda you ever think of writing your own fitness manual???
I really haven't followed any particular plan recently, and the reason is exactly what you said -- they seem to be too rigid, and when your schedule changes or you have to be in a different environment than usual, there's no way to stick to the plan and have options. So it ends up feeling very inflexible. Also, I tend to feel controlled by too many restrictions and then I rebel bigtime! So I'm sort of finding my own way.
Sonia, what was it about the plans that turned you off???
I guess I'm asking this question because of all the millions of books, manuals, plans, websites, supplements, companies, it seems that sometimes there is even LESS choice out there because these plans are so inflexible.
I followed Atkins after both of my daughter's were born to lose the baby weight. It REALLY worked for me - I was back into my regular clothes in no time. HOWEVER, it was very hard to stick to as it was so limiting. So, I didn't do it for the long term, and struggled with it daily. It was also easier since I was staying home - I could 'cook' more instead of being at work and having limited choices for lunches and snacks.
Now I'm just of the 'everything in moderation' mindset. I try to keep with eating less calories than I burn, and try to eat more lean protein, fruits and veggies. But I also don't 'forbid' anything - if I really want a chocolate chip cookie, I eat one (key being one, not 2 or 3), and I allow myself a drink or 2 with friends on the weekend. Again, 1 or 2 - not more. It seems to be working since I don't feel 'deprived' of anything. I'm just more conscious of what I take in and what I burn off at the gym.
90% of it is the inflexable part.....I WISH I had the time to plan a menu out for a week (or weeks) at a time, but with my schedule and life.......I never know what is going on the next minute, I know I couldn't stick to planning (and sticking to) a detailed program.
I agree about the unhealthy part too - there seems to be a lot of diets out there that advocate cutting out entire food groups (or almost entire) which doesn't really make a lot of sense to me.
With all the plans that you may have looked at - what do they seem to be lacking? They don't seem to fit real life; by that I mean the crazy schedules in the real world, the budgets of people who aren't making triple digits (or even half that) or the lives of those who live with those people who are trying to use the plans.

I think a lot of them don't have options - like what if you simply can't fit in that workout?

I'm like IG...I've never followed (or tried to follow) any plan.

What parts of the plans do you like or follow?
