When you get married what did you do ...

When you get married what did you do or plan to do for a last name:
- take your husband's last name
- "merge" your last name and his last name to create a new name
- hyphenate your last name
- keep my name, my husband is keeping his, our kids will have his last name
You will be able to change your vote.

I voted for took his last name.
We both had "1st names for last names" and it sounded really odd when I contemplated hyphenating. Now that we're no longer together I'm keeping his last name so I'll have the same last name as my children...

I'm not married, but if I did get married I think I would keep my own last name ... just because I like it! I always thought having a hyphenated last name seemed a bit complicated. And I've never heard of merging two names and creating a new one either! That seems really complicated!

Yep at my highschool reunion - one couple there married each other and combined the 1st part of her old last name and the end of his last name to come up with one joint last name...

Hmmmm.... I know when you get married and divorced, the woman can change her name for free. If you do it outside of those parameters you have to pay. Now re: the man... I wonder if they can change it for free too with their marriage certificate or if they would have to pay??

This has made think about how I could have combined mine and DH's names. My maiden name is McMillin and obviously Konkler now.
McOnkler?? McMonkler??? McMinkler? McMilkler??? Konkillin??? Oh and I get this one on my mail all the time any way Konklin.
Too funny!!
