Hunger vs. Starvation mode

Last week when we were talking about breakfast and that your body goes into starvation mode about an hour upon waking it got me wondering....

If you feel hungry that's just your body telling you it's time to eat right? At what point

You know this is a great question.....and one I'll have to do a little research for, as I don't know offhand what the difference is, LOL-- maybe someone else will ;-)

Thanks for making us really think this early in the week Gretchen!

Hey Gretchen, I've looked around and there is a lot of iformation on "starvation mode" but very little comparing it to hunger.

From what I have learned.... and of course we can't believe everything we read, but just accept those things that seem reasonable.

The term starvation mode may mean different things to different theories.

Okay, I hate to ask for several reasons but what exactly does a herbal cleanse

Very interesting question. I also feel like I'm doing all the right things and I'm stuck on this plateau for what seems like forever. One thing I do know is that like some others have said, I try not to let myself get to the point where I'm feeling like I'm STARVING. It definitely leads to me eating much more than I normally would. I also get very grumpy if I get to that point.

I've also heard the theory that when you feel hungry you are burning fat. But like Darcy said, I don't like feeling hungry for too long. I think there's something not right about that. I think when we feel hungry that's a sign we're supposed to eat!

I also wanted to point out that the longer you search for information on the web, the more conflicting information you are bound to find.

I just had to use the queasy emoticon...

The only kind I have tried is a 10 program that contains a Probiotic - which supports healthy intestinal and immune function, a fiber drink that has 10 grams of fiber and helps scrub your intestinal tract, and a herbal cleanse tablet that helps remove toxins from your system.

Like the others I can't really find anything definite for this answer. I did find a page on the slimfast.com site with all sorts of questions in regards to eating; emotional, hunger, 'normal' eating, etc....

I'm looking into a herbal cleanse myself....my friend did it about 3 weeks ago (a guy, so not sure if any weight was lost, or if he was even going for that result- I don't think he was. But he did say he felt a whole lot better when doing it. Thing that gets me is the pills. I'm not a BIG pill taker, talking both size and actually taking them!!)

Will keep you guys posted if I do find the one he did.
