Hmmm, 10 years ago I was 26, Matt was just 5 year's old, and I was actually just getting back to the gym.
This week let's reflect on the past 10yrs of our lives....
This time 10yrs ago what were your thoughts on fitness & health?
interesting question. I'm scared to think about it, but here goes. 10 years ago, I was 21 (soon to be 22). Strangely, I started at the company I am at now (I quit and came back twice). I didn't think about fitness, mostly because I was a size 6 and weighed about 110. (damn, so that's where my waist was). My fitness was stress. It kept it off. Health? Didn't think about that either. I could still eat what I wanted, w/o gaining weight (strangely, I gained weight when I got to this job, less stress I would assume and same bad eating habits.)
.....And now what are they?
Today, I try to see it more as a health thing than looking good, but I can't get my brain to grasp that concept. I'm about 50lbs heavier than I was 10 years ago. I eat more healthy, and think about it a LOT more, but I'm still not losing. :(
This time 10yrs ago what were your thoughts on fitness & health?
Well that was depressing...10 years ago..i weighed 30 lbs less than i do now...went to the gym for 2 hrs a day about 5 out of 7 days a week and loved it... i was semi-veg and ate whatever I wanted....
Now i am struggling to figureout how to eat to lose this weight...I don't eat a lot of junk food, so it isn't as simple as cutting that out, I don't drink regular soda or rather very rarely, I only drink diet, I eat pretty healthily but I still struggle. I have been trying to find an exercise program that works for me but its been a challenge. We just got a new elliptical machine (we already have a weight system) but I have to get regular with it...ok, pity party over....
10yrs ago what were your thoughts on fitness & health?
This time ten years ago I was 24, and really although I was a little overweight back then it didn't faze me at all. There was absolutely not exercise routine. The year before that we'd just gone through a huge hurricane and a lot of the island was a disaster area. My main focus was my work and my social life. I probably didn't eat all that well at that point in my life either!! (It all comes back to bite you.....doesn't it?)
.....And now what are they?
I'm definitely more aware of both my physical and emotional health nowadays, and as Miranda and Carrie have said I look at the 'whole picture' now, well at least try to!! I'm probably about 15lbs heavier now than 10yrs ago, and that's with a weight loss of about 20lbs in the past couple of years. It suddenly seemed to appear....or perhaps I suddenly became aware of my physical size!
In any case I'm doing more for my health now than I ever have!
