I am 38 and have cellulite on my thighs REALLY BAD. It is really embarrassing and My sister and I do not wear anything in public to gross people out. Now I am wondering if my H is turned off by it since he insist on having sex IN THE DARK only. Other than that, I am fit and in the normal weight zone for my age and height and I walk and exercise every day. I guess there is nothing much you can do about cellulite. I just feel like a freak. Is it in my mind or should I continue to camoflauge?

Welcome to the board mom-faith! I have a bit of cellulite on my legs, but I've chalked it up to the fact that I carry most of my weight on my legs.

The fact of the matter is most everyone has cellulite. Even thin stars have cellulite that they airbrush out of the magazine covers. There is little you can do about cellulite as a whole.

In regards to your husband insisting on having sex only with the lights off, I suspect it has little to do with you and more to do with him. Has he put on any weight through the years? Also have you two EVER had sex with the lights on? Meaning is this a new phenomenon with him or is this how he has always been in regards to sex. If this is how he has always been than that's definitely something within him, if it's something new all of a sudden he is doing than I would sit down and talk to him about it, say that you would like to be adventurous and try new things in the bedroom and one of them is being intimate with the lights on so that you can truly enjoy the intimacy together and that is there a specific reason he all of a sudden no longer wants to do that. Mom-faith if he's ALWAYS insisted on the lights being off, why would you equate that it's because of your cellulite now??? Logically that wouldn't be it right? It would be about him and his views in regards to sex. Also, your husband isn't the only person in this relationship, him insisting that you two only have sex in the dark is something you should discuss anyhow it seems rather like a my way or the highway attitude of a very loving part of a relationship that should be a shared enjoyable experience.

Welcome to the 30's board-- the ladies before me have given some great words of wisdom to you. Not much left for me to add. Perhaps look for some of the cellulite creams, I've heard they 'help'...but don't expect it to disappear, unfortunately it's something we all have!

Once again, welcome!

Thanks ladies! I worked up the nerve to talk to my H about the light thing (he has always been this way). He was more than happy to have the lights on. Although, I think he was little embarrasses about him. He kept asking me if his stomach looked funny. I guess we all have our issues about our bodies. My legs have been mine for a long time and will have to live with it and hope that the fashion for longer shorts stays in style forever. lol I was really feeling down on myself that day and felt better after reading your responses.

I have heard doing the elipitical machine in reverse really tones things up. I know there is no cure for cellulite but I have heard the more toned the body part is and the lower fat on your overall body helps with that a little. I think the consensus is that cellulite is genetic and a result of hormones (that is why men don't have any or much less than women). For the record I have seen some very thin women still have cellulite. Like my friend who is 5'4" 105 pounds still has some minimal saddle bags (she is a bone everywhere except her thighs!) and yes some cellulite on the back of her legs. Hey if she has it *anyone* can have it.
