QOTW: Are you Living in the Past?

LOL What an awful question right? But the reason why I ask is because sometimes we quote body statistics or weight issues that are actually outdated. Like I always say "I hardly ever gain weight around my middle, my waist is always slim". Well the other day I looked down, and it was anything BUT slim, but because I had never gained weight there when I was younger I still act as though I'm 20 not 36. Or people who still have their weight from their 20's on their driver's license, or

So, is there anything that you find it hard to be honest with yourself about when it comes to your body?

So, is there anything that you find it hard to be honest with yourself about when it comes to your body? That I just can't eat like I use to. I try or think in moderation I can eat this or that but then defining moderation becomes a problem. As a teen I could eat whatever I wanted.

So, is there anything that you find it hard to be honest with yourself about when it comes to your body?
I used to be more flexible and when I would do anything physical by the next day I was okay. I am not flexible anymore, I pull muscles right and left, and when I workout hard it takes me up to 4 or 5 days sometimes to recover. My body, in general, just doesn't heal like it use to. Also my skin use to be very clear and when I got tan it would be an even creamy tan. Now I get age spots in the sun that won't go away even after the tan has faded. They are on my face and shoulders and chest. I would rather be untanned but have very nice skin. Too bad I can't go back 15 years and tell myself to not ever go in the sun without super strength sunblock.

And is there any body changes that you have found particularly hard to deal with because it was such a change or difference from how you used to look?
I use to be an apple shape. Skinny legs, no butt, no hips, and a very rounded belly. I was like a straight board with a pot belly. Just as long as I found a shirt to cover the belly and hit me at the hip I looked thin. After having kids my hips got wider and now I have a bigger hip to waist ratio. But I also have fatter thighs, butt, and hips. I never had to think about these areas before but now I do. I turn and look in the mirror and think "Hey I wasn't suppose to have this problem area! Thats not me, I am the one with the belly not the butt". So I have to dress differently now.

And lastly, do you take after anyone is your family? Did you always think you would take after them?
I take after my dad. My mom is the lucky one...she is an apple but she is short and curvy and very very chesty. I use to sort of be an apple but I don't have a chest to speak of. I have my Dad's long legs and arms. The older I get the more I look and age like my dad in the face. Since dads a male it's difficult for me to say about body type. I am not as heavy as my was at the same age so I am going to say I probably take after my dad who is still slender at his age but has a tendency to put weight on in the stomach when he does gain. I always thought I would take after my mom who I use to look like as a child. When the baby fat came off everyone saw my bone structure was more like my dad even though my coloring is like my mom.

Very interesting question!

So, is there anything that you find it hard to be honest with yourself about when it comes to your body? That it just doesn't look like it used to, and that maybe it is not a realistic goal for it to look like it used to (a part of me continues to want to look as I looked at 25 and beat myself up because I don't). Also, that my metabolism HAS slowed down and that's a fact I need to accept. If I gain five pounds over Thanksgiving, it won't necessarily come off in a week like it used to.

And is there any body changes that you have found particularly hard to deal with because it was such a change or difference from how you used to look? Cellulite. It really bothers me -- I can see it on my

So, is there anything that you find it hard to be honest with yourself about when it comes to your body? That I think of myself as younger than my 34 years. I often have to think of what year I was born to figure out my age when people ask, lol---

And is there any body changes that you have found particularly hard to deal with because it was such a change or difference from how you used to look? The wrinkles and grey hairs!!!

And lastly, do you take after anyone is your family? Did you always think you would take after them? Yup....my Dad and his side of the family- the women are pretty busty and we're all short! (Though Mom's side doesn't have height either)

Yup! For the longest time I would say that I weighed 125 pounds, because for years that's what I did weigh. Of course, it's actually closer to 135-140 now!

Also the waist thing. I always had a slim waist, and never used to gain weight there. Now I don't generally gain a lot of weight there, but it sure isn't as slim as it used to be!

I think just the general weight gain. I never was a skinny-minny, but it was so easy to take weight off. I think that I can feel really resentful that now I have to think about the consequences of what I'm eating or whether I'm exercising. Maintaining or losing weight just takes so much more effort now!

And lastly, do you take after anyone is your family? Did you always think you would take after them?

Definitely my mom. We both carry our weight low, although my mom is actually much slimmer than I am, and workouts a lot. I could take a few pages from her book actually!!
