Hello everyone!! I am new here and thought I would introduce myself.
I am 31 years old and I have made it my goal to get healthy this year (ok so I am starting my resolution early, by this year I mean 2007)! I am 5'8" and I weigh 185. I would like to get down to about 145 - 150.
My goals are to be healthier, have more energy, and feel better! I have made a list of ways I would like to accomplish this and I plan on returning to this board for advice, support, and fun.
1. Quit Smoking - done, quit on Dec. 23. Only 4 days but it's a start.
2. Exercise - I have always done this sporadically but I want to establish a regular routine.
3. Eat better - again, done sporadically but never strict. Need discipline in this area. I get busy with work and then I just give in to whatever is quick.
4. Make more time for me - The older I get and the busier I get I tend to forget to make time for myself. I want my time back!
5. Lose weight - ok, so hopefully if I stick to number 1, 2, and 3 this will be an extra bonus. I must admit, I have gained a few lbs and I miss my old body. I also miss the enjoyment that I used to get from doing a little clothes shopping!
Anyway.....I plan on making myself accountable for my own success. No excuses this year...if I keep making them I will never succeed.
Thank you everyone for reading this! And good luck to all of you on your personal journeys in your 30s!
Happy holidays!
Melissa

Welcome to the board Melissa - sounds like you have a well thought out plan of action! I wish you much success!
Welcome! I hear you about getting busy and forgetting to make time for yourself. That's probably the biggest reason I get into a "fitness slump." This is
WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!!
I have to say this is a great board and I find that it has helped me alot with my goals. Its so lovely to have a place where you can come, write to others in your same mind set and receive advice. The ladies are here are very kind and patient and do make you feel like this is a communnity one can not only join freely but wants to be part of .
I really liked your goals; I think it is so easy to get caught up in wanting to lose weight that we forget that the reason behind it is to be heathier; also the fact that eating better and exercising will help weight loss occur at a natural pace.
regards
Monet
