QOTW: What are your goals for 2007?

You know it's so easy to throw out the ol' "lose 10 pounds" new year's resolution each year. Sometimes your plans go well for the first month, and then a bit off the rails as the year wears on.

Are you making changes to how you set your resolutions this year?

Well,my first goal this year will be to lose 2.5 more pounds. I am so happy to be so close to my goal weight. But lately I've only been losing a half pound per week. So even 2.5 pounds could take awhile. After that my next goals will be to maintain that weight all year and not go back up again. Also I will work on toning. My goal will be to hopefully lose 3.5 more inches off the waist, and at least 2 more inches off the hips. I want to be nice and toned for this summer.

I'm all about habits in 2007. I just need to find a system that will force me to do some kind of work out every day (and I've decided I do need to do something 7 days a week--when I take a day off, it's usually a slippery slope for me) and I need to find some kind of tangible, non-edible mental/emotional/psychological reward(s) that will keep me AWAY from chocolate, sugar, and salty potato chips of any kind. Which is going to really, really, really hurt. But I've committed myself to one month of it because I'm hoping I can do anything for just one month.

Other than that, my other goals are to:

lose 10% of my current body weight
do more outside workouts
lift weights more consistently

I've also decided to head for the Oprah-recommended YOU on a Diet route to eating. It makes more sense to me than the "cut all these kinds of foods out" diets. But man, I hate the word "diet!" I keep meaning to write the YOU doctors and let them know they need to think up a better name for their plan than the You Diet.

Also: I'm new here and looking forward to hanging out here, getting to know some of you better, and generally create lots of good fitness vibes all around.

Hi Miranda! My goals are the same as they always are: lose weight, workout, find more balance. The difference this year is I have mapped out exactly what I need to do. Before I would just assume that I would get to it, or makeup for it. And everything always slipped through the cracks. I wrote out my goals specifically and I gathered my resources already. I left no room to make excuses!

I think this year instead of setting result oriented goals, I want to set activity related goals. So instead of losing 10 pounds I want to exercise 3-4 times per week. And instead of managing my money better I want to set aside $200 per month. That way I have actual actions to take rather than vaguely working towards an end result. Instead of getting a raise or a new job, I'd like to finish 3 more courses in my public relations diploma program.

If you don't make any resolutions, is there something in particular you would like to accomplish or work towards this year?

Again, I'm

Yes....this year I decided on making a list (Miranda!!! LOL) of things I'd like to accomplish.

Of the 6 things, three of the most important ones are happiness, health and love.

Is there a different direction you would like to take this year regarding your fitness plans (maybe work towards a particular event like a 5K, or not lose weight but inches, etc.)?

More for health than specific weight loss.
