My personal barrier is that I just can't say NO to food or get-togethers! I've done enough reading on the subject and I honestly know what are my better choices, I just always choose to eat what I please though when I'm out.

For me it is about finding a routine that works for me not just during the week, but on the weekends too. And it is both with food and exercise that I struggle. As long as I'm working within the confines of a regimented day I'm fine - I eat well, go to my exercise classes, and walk a fair bit. On the weekends its a total free-for-all. I reward myself with food and laziness.

Is it more about how to fit fitness into your busy day? Is it that you don't know what kind of exercises you need to be doing?
***Mine is I'm tired when I get home from work and I get home and I just want to fall asleep and so I am lazy that's it just plain and simple it isn't because I don't have the time it's because I am lazy.
Maybe food is your barrier - are you an overeater? An unhealthy eater?
***I am not so much an overeater and I eat pretty well with an occasional transgression which doesn't really matter if I'm working out, but I am an emotional eater, so when I am upset I eat, when I am bored I eat, so I have to be careful not to eat for no reason.
Have you recently overcome a particular exercise or diet obstacle? How did you do it?

For me, it's what IG said -- consistency. I don't quite know why it happens but I'll be going along doing pretty well, then I'm "off" (either eating or exercise-wise) for a couple days and it's just downhill from there for a while -- sometimes a long while.
I think this usually happens when my regular routine is interrupted, like over Christmas. I feel overwhelmed and the first things to go are exercise and healthy eating.
No, my schedule is flexible with time and I know what I should be doing. My biggest obstacle is when I get thrown off schedule - a trip out of town for work, holidays, getting sick, etc. Once I get knocked off I have a hard time getting back to it.
Also, food can be a barrier for me. I am definitely an emotional eater and food can be a comfort at times.
The hardest part for me is FOOD!
It could be everything you mentioned; time management, knowledge or the lack of, bad old habits, creating new ones. The one thing I've been able to do to help myself is write everything down so I can actually 'see' what I'm eating and drinking and then reflecting on what I did right and what I could improve on. I haven't started an exercise routine yet because I'm afraid of exercising 'wrong' and causing more harm than good. For now, I'm walking (since I've been doing this for 30+ yrs and seem to know what I'm doing) and using a pedometer to track my progress. I was amazed the first day to see I walked 2.58 miles just going about my day. My goal is to increase it to 5 miles, which will mean scheduling a walking period in my day.

Time...making the time. I may not always feel like I have time ~ but I MAKE time for things that I want to do. Just gotta WANT to stick to it better.

totally unhealthy eater. I like all kinds of foods, know the right kinds of foods to eat ~ but I'm so bad for grabbing the combo meal for breakfast, and/or doing a chinese buffet for lunch. Again, it's making the time to make my own foods.

YES. Again... I have been a quitter/restarter of smoking! I've quit a dozen times and quit quitting at least 11. It really stands in my way if I smoke. I let that become part of my identity and I'm breaking that!
