Green beans are fruits?

OK, so it was my rotten children who had to point out that fruits and vegetables are now considered separate food groups. Fine. But is a tomato a fruit? My 11 yr old DD assured me that since it had seeds, it was a fruit. So does that mean green beans are fruits, too? This stumped us both. Here is what I found upon trying to find an answer...

I remember a discussion about this before, could have been about a year ago. I think it may have been Miranda who termed them veg-fruits!!!

Good lord. I didn't realize it was such an issue. And THAT is why they should have just stayed with the FOUR food groups, so it didn't matter what it was, it was all in the same group! LOL
