The Cold that Never Ends!

I am so frustrated! I am pmsing, feeling fat, and have not been able to work out for over a week due to this infuriating cold that won't go away. I feel horrible after a bike ride but have been managing to do a small one daily; but I need to get to the gym. I am eating but not working out and feel like I am reversing all those months of hard work!

Anyone else feel this way when they are sick; like their bodies turn into slugs? Being sick and have my period has turned me into a little monster; I actually told my bf to leave me alone and that it was not a good idea to be around me on Sunday! Poor sweetie just went into the other room and kept his mouth shut for fear I would rip his head off....ahhh when will this cold end!

I have decided that regardless I am going to kickboxing on Thursday night cuz I need a good beating! And I am so scared to weigh myself but I have to; I may however wait till I am done with my period cuz I think that for the first time in a few month, I have in fact gained weight.

Ok enough rant - back to nice mello music.

Having a bad cold really does mess with working out, that's for sure. I know what you mean about feeling like

Ugh Monetsf-- those colds that dwindle and hang around are the worst- having gone through one in November I can empathize with you!!

My advice is to take it easy- watch your food intake and drink lots of water. Don't overdo working out, try the kickboxing class if you feel up to it, but if you feel it too much for your body, stop! You really want your body to get rid of all those germs and mend before taking on too much.

Feel better soon~

Hi Monetsf!

The only suggestion I can make is to make sure you can breath reallyl well before going to kick boxing. It takes a lot of oxygen to do those kinds of workouts.

Please be careful....you don't want to become more sick.

PS. Have you tried taking any ColdFX? My MIL swears by the stuff when she gets sick. I've never been able to take it because I have been either pregnant or nursing for the past 4 years! lol

WElcome Violet Ivy! I agree about the cold F/X although I don't know how well it works in the midst of a cold!

And monetsf, I would be careful about pushing yourself while you are recovering. Remember that rest and liquids are what is going to help you heal, and that you may set yourself back health wise if you over do it.

I did find some yoga poses that are supposed to help with sinus problems, if your cold happens to be settling there:

I'm sending loads of {{{GET WELL VIBES}}} your way!

Thanks for the thoughts and ideas everyone. I am feeling a lot better; I have yet to hit the gym cuz well I can't! It snowed here today and they closed the gym due to lack of staff. In case you are curious, it takes about a centimetre of snow for England transport to cease. I guess the gods didn't want me pushing. But I am all packed and ready to go to the gym after i teach in the morning! This not working out is making me a bit bitchy...and I am not being hard on myself. My poor boyfriend cannot say boo without me getting all irritable.

As for kickboxing, I used to do it all the time back home in SF, so I am aware of what its going to be like and I can't wait. I could do with a little bag kicking today. :)
We don't have have the cold F/x that you talked about but Beechems seems to work for me; I am also in the middle of a bad period, so am using a heating pad. For some reason my body thought that a cold was not bad enough, it decided to kick up my period symptoms to full blast! But I am getting better; I have to, right?

Glad to hear you're feeling somewhat better- the snow seems to be an omen to take it easy!! (I used to love Lemsip when I was sick, back in Ireland. Loved the stuff!! LOL)

Went to the gym today and granted it said I put on a kg, I kicked up my work out so am hoping it is just my period. Am a little stuffy - but was able to run without any problems! I love the gym!
