Hey Ladies!!

I just tried cross-country skiing for the first time ever this weekend and I adored it!! It is beautiful weather here, and we have a lovely river valley with loads of trails. My girlfriend who is quite a good skiier took me out for about an hour - we did 3 km. I didn't even realize we had gone for that long, and my arms and legs were pretty tired by the time we were done, but what a fabulous workout!!

THAT is the way to get some lovely outdoor time in the winter! I rented skis, boots, and poles for $45 for 3 days, and my girlfriend said that her brand new equipment only cost $300 which really isn't bad, compared to my son's snowboard equipment - he spent $200 on boots alone this year!

So, for any of you thinking of trying it - give it a go! I'm hoping to get out tomorrow and maybe Monday too - of course that depends on how I feel when I wake up tomorrow morning!! LOL

Well I woke up this morning and actually feel great! I'm going to head out again today! I'm a little stiff across my pecs and shoulders, but nothing that can't be worked out. Matt is going snowboarding today (if he ever wakes up, LOL) and I will head out then!

I think I will get my own equipment for next year. We can only ski during winter, but of course up here that is 6 months! LOL I know recently we've actually not had enough snow, but my girlfriend and I have decided to do the 3K beginners race for the Birkebeiner festival here next year - it runs in Feburary, so I've got loads of time to train. I have to take the skis back tomorrow, so I'm debating on whether I can get out for a quick run again today!
