Hi. I'm looking forward to learning about this board. I'll do a quick into of myself. I was torn between this board and the Moms Getting Fit board, but decided on this one since I'm 38. My immediate plans are to look very good at my 20 year class reunion this summer. :c)

I'm Lori, 38 yo wife of DH Mike and mom to 8yoDD, 6yoDD and 3yoDS. I'm 5'9" and currently at 188lbs with a goal of 165, though 170 is probably more realistic for me.

Right now, I do Tues & THurs step aerobics/toning (40min cardio + 20min abs/arms)and Mon & Wed or Fri, I use an eliptical for 30min then use Nautilus for 30 minutes. I'd like to get the eliptical up to 40min, but my feet get tingly! I hate that!! I also do yoga on the days of the week that I do the elipt/weights b/c I really need to stretch out really well after that. I used to go to a class that I LOVED, but DH's work schedule has changed, so that evening yoga class isn't possible right now. I miss it alot.

I want to lose some weight, but mostly just be healthy so I can live a long and productive life. I want to be a good example for my kids, too. I eat organic and all natural foods as much as I can, and I avoid hydrog. fats whenever possible, and also try to avoid the high fructose corn syrup. Those two things have infiltrated practically every single food on the shelf except for fresh veggies and fruits. It's pitiful!!

OK. That's enough. I'm pretty wordy - sorry about that!! ;cp

Ciao! Lori

Hi there Lori, and welcome to the 30's board!

Make sure to check out the 'welcome wagon' and 'roll call' for March in the folder below this one. They have general info about the board, and the roll call gives you a general idea of who's here with us.

Reading your post it's obvious that you are on the road to health and fitness already, and your point about the high fructose syrup is so true....it's everywhere. Good for you for doing your best to avoid them altogether.

With your family of 3 children I'm sure you're one busy lady- hat off to you for being so vigilant with your workout times. (If you miss Yoga so much, do you have any videos/dvd's to use instead? There are some really nice ones out there.)

You'll really like this board, there's a bit of everything going on around here, and the ladies are wonderful! Looking forward to having you here with us :-)

Welcome to the board Lori!! It sounds like you are definitely on the right track with your workouts and eating habits. And with a busy schedule to boot!

I have an elliptical at home, but haven't experienced the tingly feet - of course, I'm never on it for very long. LOL

Like IG said, check out the roll call, and the welcome wagon post for more info on the board, and the journal section is a great place to see what people are up to in terms of their own eating/exercise habits!
