If you could give your child one thing..

If you could guarantee that one (and only one) thing would be passed on to your children, what would it be? Your mom's longevity, your husband's compassion, your father's faith? Good health?

One and only one??
Wow, that's a great question.
I don't have kids, but I do have younger sisters and a niece and nephew. Their parents have passed the faith that our family shares on to them, which is something that is so important, but as an aunt and big sister, apart from faith, I would like to pass to them courage, the courage to take chances and to try new things and to push beyond what they think they can do and to stand up for what is right.

I've kind of avoided this question, because to pick one thing is so difficult! As a parent I try to pass on many different things to my son - some things I struggled with as a child and teen I want to make sure I DON'T pass on and some things I DO want him learn and become.
I think that if I were to pass on one thing to him it would be confidence and faith in yourself. I think that if that is your starting block, confidence and faith in yourself can lead to many wonderful things, and just allow you to be more giving and generous as a person. It can allow you to try new things without being fearful, to fail without feeling like a failure, and to succeed when others might fear to try.
